Where the heck did Emily come from?

This weekend I walked 5 miles on Saturday but unfortunately even walking is causing me a little pain.  It’s migrated too.  What started in my upper hamstring has relocated.

ass pain

I made an appointment with the sports doctor for Thursday morning so we’ll see what he says.  I’ve been running long enough to know that the problem is most likely stemming from my back issue and the fact that I sit on my ass all day working.  I mean, I have the medicine ball and foam rollers and all the gadgets I need but my posture just sucks and honestly, it’s much more comfortable to work from the comfort of my lazy boy.

Except that I’m paying for it in the long run.

Too dumb

Anyway, after walking on Saturday MacGyver and I went to a few garage sales.  We got a few good things.  MacGyver got a really cool cover from a 64 Mercury outboard motor.  I want to make it into a mailbox but we’re still deciding.

On Sunday it started raining.  We’re still waiting for it to stop.  MacGyver and I went for a 6 mile bike ride anyway because we’re not afraid of a little rain.  We also went to Aldi and I think it’s really important to tell you that Aldi now carries IPA beer!

IPA beer

I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ll let you know when I do.

I was also at Aldi on Friday night when my niece was having her gender reveal party.  They live streamed it so I was able to watch on Facebook.  I might have gotten a little too excited when I saw the pink exhaust from the truck because I screamed out, ‘it’s a girl, I knew it!’  Everyone around me and up to four aisles over clapped.

When I was pregnant we didn’t have these gender reveal parties.  In fact everyone I knew told me not to find out what the sex was until I delivered because that’s what gets you through labor, especially if you have a totally natural childbirth, and I did.  (I know, I’m a badass.)  I also had to return a lot of things so there’s that.

But I digress, the point is, these gender reveal parties are all kinds of fun and who knew you could turn the exhaust from the truck pink or blue.  Amazing.  The best part was that my niece had no idea of the gender either, only her sister who organized the party so it was really sweet.

I was thinking of buying this for the expecting mom but it might be too much.

I was planning on a really easy walk this morning and since it rained all day yesterday I checked the weather radar late last night and it looked like there might be a break in the rain early this morning.  I laid out all of my clothes so everything would be ready and then when I woke up this morning I turned on the news.

Emily

Somehow, over night a low pressure system turned into this!

Yeah, so there’s that.

How was your weekend?  Did you do anything exciting?

Poof, weekend gone!

Good Morning!  I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that it’s Monday already.  I mean, we hardly did anything this weekend and then poof, it was over.

Weekend gone

I know a lot of people look forward to having weekends off and not having to do anything but I am NOT one of those people.  I like getting shit done.  The weekends are when I do yard work and house projects and if I don’t accomplish something every weekend, I feel like I’ve wasted precious time.

Patrick

Yes, but I didn’t do anything I really love either…well, except running, I did that.

I ran 14 miles total this weekend, 8 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday.  It was awesome.  I planned on lifting weights too but I never got around to it.  I haven’t gotten around to it in months really and sadly I have a plan all typed up with an excel spreadsheet so I can track my results and it’s empty.

I have youtube videos saved and bookmarked so that I can easily get in an afternoon workout while watching the TV but apparently being prepared is only half the battle because I haven’t gotten around to making a full commitment and it’s starting to show.  You know, in the region I typically sit and the area in which I bend, and other areas.

thigh gap

Yes. This is my life.

I’m gonna get on those weights, stat!  I really need to do some weight training but wouldn’t it be a lot more enjoyable if I could somehow include the dogs?  I mean, Boomer could use it and Hank’s getting a bit of a belly and since his nearly drags the ground as it it, well, we need to get them involved.

dog workout

This is the workout!

Tell me about your weekend, did you run?  Did you do any other workouts?  Did you get projects done around your house?  (Maybe you shouldn’t tell me because I might hate you, purely out of jealousy obviously.)

The weekend was a blast!

Happy Monday to you, or should I say Happy Fourth of July eve?  I guess it doesn’t really matter either way.  What matters is that I’m back in Clearwater and working today, and it kind of sucks.  I mean, I don’t mind work so much but going back to it after taking some time off and then knowing you’ll be taking the next day off is kind of a downer.  I should have just taken today off too, right?  You should too!

bad influenceI’m a bad influence.  You should probably not listen to me.

Over the weekend MacGyver and I spent as much time as we could with his sister and friend.  We did a little fishing, played Mexican Train Dominoes and hit up Tarpon Springs on Saturday.

mexican train dominoes

I think I was the overall winner. Just sayin

There are lots of cool things to do in Tarpon Springs but Laura and I were super excited about this opportunity.

Free WineIt may have been the wine or maybe all the sugar from Hella’s Restaurant and Bakery but afterwards, we girls got a little silly.

This was our best Charlie’s Angel pose but don’t worry we perfected it later.

See? Told ya.

Laura took this picture of MacGyver and I which I absolutely love!

Me and my man

You know how they say huge purses will cause back problems? I obviously didn’t get that memo because, ouch!

I also love this picture of MacGyver and his big sis.

Love!

After Tarpon Springs we decided to show the girls what we are lucky enough to get to experience at least once if not twice a week, fireworks!  We live by the Threshers stadium and are close enough to hear and see the firework’s display during baseball season every week.

Saturday night we decided to get closer and actually take a drive over to the stadium.  What we didn’t realize was that the game would go into overtime and they would end up playing a bazillion innings!

waiting

What inning are they in again?

We almost gave up and went home to watch them but I’m so glad we didn’t because…

Phillies stadium fireworks It was a blast, literally!  And we get to see them again tonite!  We’ll probably watch them from home though because MacGyver and I have really bad luck on July 4th.  We’ve spent 3 of them in Emergency Rooms and a few others with sickness or injury, so we stay home.

Tonight is the annual Kiwanis Midnight Run.  I thought about running it, as I thoroughly enjoyed it the last time, but I decided not to.  If you live in the area I do recommend it.  It’s really incredible to run over the causeway at midnight and the race proceeds go to a great cause.

That’s it for me, I’ve got a few hours of work to get done before another day of vacation.

What are your plans for the fourth?
