I’d like to thank myself…

It’s 9:15AM and currently the theme for Saturday Night Fever is playing on a commercial in the background and Mom is dancing in my kitchen.

Not my Mom but oh so close….

Boomer and Hank are exhausted from their morning walks and laying on the lazy boy and sofa respectively and the bird is trying to clean out Boomer’s ears with his tongue which surprisingly he doesn’t mind.

My house is sort of like this,

bird house

but with more dogs and one bird.

Over the weekend we had our annual neighborhood garage sale and craft fair hence my absence on Thursday and Friday.  You see, I planned and organized it for the entire neighborhood.  Myself.  Did I mention I planned and organized it for the entire neighborhood all by myself?  Well, I did.  I am also exhausted.  The good news is, I’m 600 dollars richer.

dollar dollar

Well, actually, I was 600 dollars richer but now it’s more like 200 dollars richer.  Did I mention that mom is in town?  And have I told you how much mom and I like to shop?  Because we do and I need a lot of things for the new house.  Okay, maybe not need, maybe more like want.  I want a lot of new things for the new house.  So we shop.  And shop.  And then we shop.

show me the money

I’m helping the economy so much.  Aren’t you proud of me?

In spite of all I had going on last week and boy did I have a lot going on because, hey I work for myself and my husband, I write a lil ol blog, take care of two dogs a bird and the occasional neighborhood stray plus I just closed on two houses in one day, so why not plan and organize a community yard sale and craft fair for thousands of people, right?  Sure, throw some more at me, I can handle it.

Despite all of that, I still managed to run over 15 miles and get some physical therapy in so I’m all kinds of pleased with myself!

In the words of the late great Dee Dee Ramone, “I’d like to thank myself, and congratulate myself, and give myself a big pat on the back.”

Now I better go get some work done before I get too full of myself.

How was your weekend?

Do you spend extra cash as soon as you get it or are you a saver?  (I buy all the running things!)

I don’t like to move it, move it.

Don’t you hate those people who get all excited on Monday mornings.  You know the type, they’re all like ‘good morning sunshine’ and I’m like,

shut your mouth

And especially when I’m tired or exhausted which is a much more accurate description after the week and the weekend that we just had.  I mean closing on two houses in one day is crazy but moving from one into the other in less than 3 days is just, dare I say, stupid?

moving

This is how MacGyver would’ve liked to move but I had to squash that shit right there.

Clearly MacGyver and I are NOT real men.  It took us about 14 trips with a huge car hauler.  Did I mention that this is a vacation house?  Yeah, we are obviously hoarders and we have a shit ton of pure crap, but we got it moved.

We managed to walk the dogs every day during the move as to try and keep their lives as normal as possible.  On one of those mornings MacGyver almost stepped on something and that something is now a new member of the family.  Let me introduce you to Squishy Toots.

Squishy Toots

Cute isn’t he?  He was pretty chill during the moving too but then how excited do turtles actually ever get?

So, we got everything in the new house on Friday afternoon and then we spent most of Saturday and Sunday cleaning the new house and moving boxes and furniture into our rooms.  We don’t have everything moved in but I did manage to finish, (or semi finish) setting up a few rooms and here they are.

We still need to paint and hang our pictures and fine tune but since we spend our weekends there, I had to go ahead and set up some things.  I don’t mind.  I get weirdly excited about decorating.  Weirdly.  Maybe obsessed is the right word but hey, who’s to say that’s a bad thing?  Not me!

The new house is not far from the old one but the water is way better.  The fishing is going to be awesome.  In case you’re wondering how I know, MacGyver threw one crab trap in the water just after we closed on Friday afternoon.  Saturday morning, he pulled up four of these guys.

Blue Crabs in the pot!

We got home last night just in time for The Walking Dead which I personally thought was dismal at best.  Not one of my favorite episodes ever and actually the Talking Dead which aired afterwards was more exciting in my opinion.  Let’s hope it gets better because I can’t stop watching.  Why? Ummmm, Daryl!

This morning, we’re over here just trying to get back to normal, which means, I’ve got some new shoes to try out and I’m going for a run.

Have a fantastic Monday, and tell me what you did this weekend.

Do you like moving?  How about decorating?

Does someone have a big life insurance policy on me?

Are you one of those lucky people in the path of totality who will actually see the full solar eclipse today?

path of totality

My mom is pretty close where she lives in Tennessee however, we are not.  We’ll be able to see a partial eclipse but I’m still excited about it.  If you want to know how much of the eclipse you’ll be able to see, you can visit this really cool site here.

We just got back from Nokomis last night so we’ll be watching from here.  I’m glad I’m watching it from anywhere because I was nearly decapitated on Friday.  No, really, I was.

MacGyver and I were trimming the canal from our John boat and we were throwing the clippings in the middle of the boat.  MacGyver tripped over all the brush and fell backwards with the sharpened loppers in his hand and they scrapped right across my collar bone narrowly missing my neck by an inch!

neck injury

We laugh about it now but it could have turned out really bad.  That’s why on Saturday MacGyver asked his brother to help finish the job.  I cleaned the house instead and I also had lots of help from my awesome sister-in-law and thing 1 and thing 2.

Afterwards, we went to dinner at a new restaurant that we hadn’t been to yet, and then we all went to the drum circle.  Because I live to embarrass myself and those who love me with my most awesome dance moves.

And now the family is on their way to Clearwater to spend the last week of their vacation with us.  I am pretty lucky to be able to share my birthday with my nephew.

Happy Birthday Thing 1, I love you!

Our birthday’s are Wednesday by the way, in case you want to send presents.

Now, get out there and watch the eclipse today but make sure you have the right type of glasses or use a pinhole viewer.

Boomer America

These are obviously not the right type of glasses but fortunately Boomer doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the eclipse.  Dog treats, that’s another story.  He’s open for any and all sponsorships, (and I’m not above pimpin out my dogs for early retirement), just sayin’.

Are you going to be watching the eclipse today?

Will you be able to see the full eclipse where you are?
