Judgement dog and chapter one, it’s Monday!

I can’t believe it’s Monday already.  Where does the time go? It’s crazy how fast the weekend goes by and now I’m getting ready to dive into work for the day.

I got up this morning and ran 4 miles and then took this little guy and his big brother for a walk.

Hank the Dachshund

Our walks are adequate at best lady…. but I’m not judging you.

This weekend I was pretty busy trying to finish up the bedroom and it’s about 90% done. After 6 miles on the treadmill Saturday morning, I worked on the bedroom all day.  We had a high of 97 in Tampa on Saturday with ridiculous humidity so working inside the house was a no-brainer.

Here’s a sneak peek at what the bedroom looks like now….before I change my mind again.

I still haven’t put the blinds (or curtains) up over the bed…because I’ve changed my mind 3 times.

I did manage to mostly organize my closet. We added all new doors too.

That's MacGyver's closet. I try my best not to go near it. It scares me.

This is my desk but I don’t really ever use it, I just really like how it looks.

On Saturday night MacGyver and I decided to go to dinner. I wore my new jumper but this time I paired it with a low heel and I think I like it better than with flat sandals.

I wonder if I would have been smiling if I had known about the big splotch of paint I inadvertently left on the back of my leg…um yeah.

After dinner MacGyver and I watched Nightcrawler with Jake Gyllenhaal on Netflix. Holy shit, you have to watch this move. I swear I almost hate Jake Gyllenhaal after watching it and Rene Russo too but it is a really good movie.

Jake as Lou Bloom

And now meet Creepy Jake…

On Sunday I woke up with a swollen eye and really bad allergies. I’m not sure what happened but I still managed to run 3.5 miles on the treadmill. Afterwards though, I hit the couch and stayed there, so the whole day was pretty much a wash.

Tomorrow is the big day of the release of Harper Lee’s novel, Go Set a Watchman.

Go Set a Watchman
I am beyond excited. Since I did nothing but lay around on the couch all day Sunday, I was looking for hints about the book online and I found this preview of the first chapter!  No really, you can read the entire first chapter now!  You’re Welcome.

Now I just need tomorrow to hurry up and get here because I want to read this book over and over again.

Tell me about your weekend. Did you do anything fun?
Are you going to buy the Harper Lee Novel?
Do you like to read?

Tuesday Tantrums, I mean tangents.

We made it home late last night. We weren’t late because of my doctors appointment, no that was cancelled, and not by me. The doctor went out of town for the holiday weekend and got delayed, first by bad weather, and then by a missed flight. I was not happy but the reason we got home late was because MacGyver decided to go out fishing. All. Day.

Clearly the previous 3 days of fishing were not enough.

We take our fishing pretty serious.

So we’re home and I got up early this morning and I ran 5 miles on the treadmill. Even though I ran a total of 9 miles outside in Venice, treadmill miles are definitely easier in the heat and humidity and I thoroughly enjoyed my run this morning.

If I could run with a fan in front of me outside, I’d have no problem running outside for all the miles. Fans are blessed wonderful!

What isn’t wonderful is coming home and being confronted by the bedroom that is nowhere near finished. It’s little things like grouting the tile in the closets, hanging the blinds, putting up curtain rods, finishing the doors, etc, etc, etc. My head hurts.

It's too much
I am the type of person who needs organization and order. I cannot handle chaos, at all. I need a vacation, except, I just had one.

Part of the problem stems from watching Todd Chrisley in Chrisley Know’s Best. When I first watched that show I loved how that guy organized every minute detail of his life.  It was astounding.  But let’s be honest, he doesn’t really know best, he’s just anal retentive…. and I kind of want to throat punch him today. That’s bad, isn’t it?

                       Yep, who would’ve thought?

I’m probably better off watching Party Down South.

On a serious note, have you guys seen the trailer for the new documentary, Fair Chase?  It was inspired by one of my favorite books, Born to Run. You can watch the entire documentary on Vimeo for around 10 bucks but here’s a sneak peek.

What’s one show on television that just really irritates you.

I bit off more that I can chew

I bit off a bit more than I can chew this weekend.

biting off more than I can chew

I feel you turtle man, I do.

Let’s start with last Friday afternoon, shall we?  On Friday afternoon I made a trip over to Lowe’s with the kid.  Since we decided to stay home for the weekend, I thought it might be a good time to paint my bedroom so I bought lots of paint.

The last time that I painted it was years ago and unfortunately I used the wrong type of paint.  I won’t bore you with the details except to say that I have 2 walls primed and that’s as far as I’ve gotten and when I think of what’s left to do, I feel like this…..

This could go on for weeks….WEEKS!

In case you didn’t know it, I’m not really good at taking my time with things.  I like to just get them done.  Unfortunately,  I spent all weekend on this room and now it’s the weekday and I have other things that have to be done, like that job thing, ugh!

MacGyver refuses to help because he wanted nothing to do with painting the room in the first place.  Besides, he’s a little preoccupied with his new toy.

The mold of the fish he caught a few weeks ago.

This is the 42″ Snook that he caught….

So I’ll just have to resort to working on it during breaks and at night and hope I get it finished this month.

Since I was painting the bedroom this weekend I only had a chance to watch one episode of Orange is The New Black but it was hella good.  I can’t wait to see more.

I did manage to run both Saturday and Sunday and I was smart and ran on the treadmill.  I did 4 miles on Saturday and 5 on Sunday.  It was a nice break from the painting and although I would have liked to run more I just couldn’t find the time.

I did get a chance to wear my new romper on a trip to Lowe’s.  I’m not sure I like it with flat shoes and also because I have such a long torso I’m not sure it looks all that great.

The pattern is really cute though so that’s a plus.

All right, I need to get to work so I can find the time to paint today.  Oh joy!  And yes, that’s sarcasm.

Do you like painting?
Do you paint your house yourself or hire someone?
