So much stress…..

On Tuesday I got a call from a client at 3 in the afternoon.  Due to a major issue with her computer she had to replace it and now couldn’t figure out how to set up her email.  Two hours later, I thought we had the problem resolved.

Yesterday at 1:30 in the afternoon she called again and after many hours, precisely at 5:30 or 4 hours later, I had to end the call.

Do you know how hard it is to set up email for someone over the phone when they have no idea which program or what versions they are using?  It’s fucking impossible.  If she doesn’t have it figured out this morning I’m going to drive over and set it up myself to save an entire day of getting nothing else done.

Next week I’m going to be doing a stress test that my cardiologist ordered, and it’s stressing me out.

Not the actual running on the treadmill part but the expectations my cardiologist has.  I asked him what to expect from the test and he said I’d be able to handle it.  But then he warned me that I wouldn’t be able to last for all 15 minutes because knowing that I’m a runner, he’ll be ramping up the speed every 2 minutes and higher than for someone who doesn’t normally run.

Great.  Now I feel like I have to run like it’s a race.

I thought that I would be able to give him some of my fitbit data since it tracks my heart rate all the time including while I exercise except, I still can’t get the damn thing to sync!

I spent an hour this morning going through all of the troubleshooting suggestions again and still, no sync.

It’s not my heart that is causing me stress, it’s freakin technology!

Are you tech savvy or tech shy?

Some days I miss pencils, paper and erasers

The last time that MacGyver and I were in Nokomis the desktop computer was in the middle of a windows update just as a big bolt of lightning struck and knocked the power out briefly.

blue screen

I restarted it and tried some other things but for two solid hours it was stuck in a loop and just kept returning to the above message, which I now loathe for obvious reasons.

I didn’t have anymore time to try and repair it so we left and I figured I’d deal with it the next time we went down.

Last week as windows was updating on my laptop, boom, same damn screen and then the looping began.

are you kidding me

At first I  read that this was a rare problem but the more I dug I realized it wasn’t so rare at all and I live in the lightning capitol of the World so obviously, there’s no way to prevent power surges from happening whenever mother nature wants them to.  The only thing I can do is pick the time to update windows, so I’m doing that.

Oh, and I had to pay a tech guy to pull off my data from the hard drive and put it on my dell so that I could continue to work but I completely forgot that half the number keys and symbols do not work on my dell laptop so that’s been fun.

fingers for typing

And then yesterday I was working hard on a project that has a hard deadline this week.  I needed to ask the client a question so I picked up my iPhone to call.  DEAD.  I tried everything but it wouldn’t power up.  After a half hour I put it on the charger and went to do something else and then an hour later I did a hard reset and it worked but the battery seems to be draining very fast which is odd because it’s fairly new.  Or maybe it’s not odd and technology is trying to tell me something.

Some days I hate computers, and phones, and work, like on Wednesdays, and maybe all the other days too.  I just want to be like,

fuck computers

WTF it’s Wednesday.  Technology is great until it’s broken and then everything sucks.

Alexa, when will it get warm again?

Good Morning.  Or is it?

It’s currently raining here and it’s 44 degrees.  While that may not seem all that cold to some of you, I can assure you that here in Florida, it’s freezing.  In fact, in north Florida those poor people have had some snow.  SNOW.  In Florida!  This is insane.

A friend of mine sent me a meme this morning that accurately depicts me.

freezing weather

Typically when I get up in the morning, I take the dogs out to pee and then I go for a run and then, when I return, I take the dogs for a walk.  By the time I come in the door they are crazy.  They even go so far as to pull their leashes off the hook sometimes and throw them at me.  (I wish I was kidding.)

Yesterday morning it was 39 degrees and I had to practically throw Hank outside to pee.  I actually ran 6 miles and when I got back, Hank was in this position,

I aint gonna lie, I joined him later in the day.  It’s the only way I get to use the electric blanket because he owns it.

I was all prepared to run this morning but it happens to be pouring outside and I just couldn’t motivate myself to run in cold, wet weather.  It just didn’t happen.  I might run later.  Maybe.  When it’s this cold yoga and weight training suddenly become completely desirable.

When the kid was here for Christmas he brought a gift for Grandma which I mailed to my mom last week.  She got it yesterday and promptly called to tell me that she loves it.  I wondered why she was calling me to tell me she loved it instead of the kid when she said, ‘how do you use it?’

two pics For the record, it’s a wireless charging station thingy for the iPhone 8 and since I don’t have an iPhone 8 or an iPhone 10 I have no clue how it works.  I’m stuck in the dark ages.  I tried to explain to mom that I don’t use one and so I don’t really know how it works but she kept describing the thing to me.  “It’s square with a little round thingy on it, which way do I put it down”, she asked.

And the questions kept coming and the more I couldn’t answer the more frustrated she got.  Finally I said, ‘you’ll need to call the kid tomorrow.’  And by that time, I was the frustrated one.  Then, this morning I saw this meme.

She’s getting an echo for her birthday.  Welcome to my world Alexa!

How’s your weather?

Do you run when it’s cold and raining or God forbid, in the snow?

Who is tech support in your family?
