The Monday after when you eat all the things…

Hello and greetings from Nokomis.  We came down Friday night and we’ve decided to stay until this evening.  I’m working on wrapping up a huge project and for some reason I get more done down here.

Hank packed up

Can we go already? I’m packed!

Did you see his tongue sticking out, I mean, how cute is that?

I went for a walk on Friday morning and as soon as I got around the corner a peacock started following me.  He twerked his way around me at least 5 times.  I finally yelled, ‘No, Mr. Peacock, I am not having sex with you.’  (That’s what it means when they twerk like that and fan their feathers out.)  I didn’t realize a neighbor was standing outside when I yelled it so that was embarrassing.

(I made the alt tag ‘twerking peacock’.  I wondered what kinds of hits I’ll get from that, lol.

We packed up on Friday afternoon and left Clearwater around 7ish.  MacGyver wanted to leave earlier I think but the Kid had mentioned that he sent something and it was being delivered on Friday so we I wanted to wait until it got there.

Y’all, I have the best kid in the World.  Not because he thinks of his mother on her birthday and Mother’s day but because he’s kind, smart, successful and honest.  Every day is Mother’s day because he makes me so proud.  We talk at least 5 or 6 times a week and even though he is miles away, we are very close.  I love that kid more than life itself.

And he does send the best presents too, in case you’re wondering.

He knows me so well.

Since I’m still taking some time off of running I decided to finish up the lawn down here in Nokomis.  I finished mulching and weeding the entire yard, front and back and I built a grilling patio for MacGyver.  Okay, actually I got sick of tripping over the grill and the Traeger smoker which were placed randomly around the backyard.

I didn’t take a picture of the patio because it isn’t quite the look I have in mind so I need to add some additional features and then I”ll show you guys.

On Mother’s day MacGyver and I went to dinner with his Mom and Dad.  Before we left I noticed my shoes were a bit worn so I threw them out and put on a different pair.  Somehow while we were at dinner I managed to rip the entire side of my sandal out.

Yes,  I ruined two pairs of shoes in less than two hours!  Apparently, I need to bring some new shoes down here…or go shopping.  Which do you think I’ll do?

MacGyver and I have been really good about following this diet that we are on.  Except that instead of a diet, we’re calling it a lifestyle change because it’s geared towards autoimmune issues and we really want to keep our bodies as healthy as possible holistically.

I haven’t been running and I didn’t have any other workouts planned while we’re down here but I’m pretty sure the moving of pavers and all the lawn work count for something.  Actually, I’ve felt really healthy all week until this morning because at dinner, I ate all the things.

ate all the things

Yep, Accurate!

Instead of pizza, I ate steak and potatoes and chocolate gelato and lots of champagne.  Oops.  Oh well, I’m back on track this morning.

I hope that all of you Mother’s had a wonderful Mother’s Day and I hope that everyone had a blessed weekend spending time with those you love.

How healthy is your diet?

Do you follow a special diet or just watch what you eat?

Which do you think is worse, sugar or fat?

Mothers Day Weekend

Woody is part of the family and just goes with the flow.  I’m not even kiddin you, it’s hilarious.  He just rides in the car like one of the family and he sits on the sofa watching TV like one of the gang.

pets

‘Are you sleeping yet?’
‘No, are you?’

The only thing he hasn’t done yet is go on the boat and it’s only a matter of time.  When we go out somewhere and come back home I come in through the door and say hello to the dogs and they’re both barking and whining and Woody is chirping right along with them and when I say ‘Hi Woody’ he sings this little song, it’s adorable.

Woodpecker in a boat

We have this lamp that has a boat and an Ernest Hemmingway type character on it. MacGyver puts the bird in the boat to ‘train’ him.

Over the weekend I ran on the Legacy trail every day and on both Sunday and Monday morning I saw a hawk.  I almost brought it home too.

Hawk

I didn’t.  When it discovered a rabbit that had recently been hit by a car and drug it under a tree to save for dinner I knew that the hawk could fend for itself so I let it be.

We had a nice time in Nokomis and I love spending time down there but I have to say that I really missed the kid this year.  He called me Thursday night and we talked for quite a while and he texted me on Mother’s Day but I really, really miss him.  It’s been about 6 months since I’ve seen him so I think it’s about time for me to schedule a little trip soon.

MacGyver put in a new glass insert into the front door of the Nokomis house for me for Mother’s Day.  It’s really, very pretty and I love it.

And this is the view from inside the house.

We spent most of Sunday on the boat and MacGyver smoked a ton of food so that his mom and I wouldn’t have to cook anything for the entire day which was very sweet.  We took the dogs out with us and headed toward the island that we went to last weekend.  The dogs didn’t like the beach part of the trip very much.  The waves were intense and poor Hank got pummeled in the first two minutes and promptly gave up and left the water, Boomer didn’t last much longer either.  They both hightailed it back to the boat.

Boomer

Boomer slept in the back in the shade for most of the ride home. He loves the wind in his hair, diva!

Hank the dachshund

Hank jumps around like a popcorn kernel.

They both preferred the boat ride to the beach or the water on this trip, and Hank would have been happy if we would have caught a fish, but unfortunately the fish weren’t biting.  We did see the most interesting thing I’ve seen on the water in quite some time and I made MacGyver stop so that I could get a picture of it.

boat dock phone booth

Best thing seen on the end of a boat dock EVER!

I think they should have turned it into a tardis and then it would have been even cooler.

You could totally turn that into a tardis right?

We hung out with MacGyver’s parents until quite late on Sunday night so we decided to stay until Monday and then on Monday I got up and ran and MacGyver went to work on the boat.  We were supposed to leave around 1PM and come home so that I could get some work done that afternoon but did I mention that MacGyver went to work on the boat?  Yeah, so instead we left around 2:30ish.

Anywho, we’re home now and things are almost back to quasi normal.  As normal as a two dog, one woodpecker, MacGyver and a running girl household can be anyway.

How was your weekend?
