Garmin Forerunner 620, you had me at hello!

I was going to take the day off today but I felt great so this morning I ran an easy 4 miles around the neighborhood. It was a good post race run.

Remember how some time ago I said that I was going to see other running apps and Garmin forerunner 405 and I were no longer exclusive? Remember that? Well, Garmin has changed, really changed, and now he wants a monogamous relationship again. I am seriously considering it…

Missing my Garmin

How would you like to have a running coach? Yes?

Well, I don’t know about you but my dream is to have a running coach…but my bank account (and MacGyver) is all like ‘ah, hell no’! So, that’s that. Or is it?

If you have the same dream as I do, I think I may be able to help you fulfill your dreams today with this little bit of information that I have….

Meet The New Garmin Forerunner 620 – There’s a Coach in every watch!

Garmin 620

If you really want to improve your speed the best place to start is with your running form. The new Garmin Forerunner 620 actually measures your Ground Contact, Cadence and Vertical Oscillation. How freakin cool is that? It actually tells you how much time your foot is on the ground versus in flight, how many steps you take per minute and the degree of your bounce. This is heaven for analytical junkies such as myself. It is seriously like having a coach on your wrist!

It also measures your VO2 Max and it has a race predictor, uh, You had me at hello!

And here’s something cool for those of us who tend to over train, it has a built in recovery advisor. This baby actually tells you how much recovery time you need after a run. And if that isn’t enough, it also performs a recovery check and it will tell you how effective your recovery was in the first few minutes of your next run! Hello, badass! I think I’m in love again.

So, Garmin, I’m sorry I doubted you. As soon as I can convince MacGyver that I NEED you back in my life, on an exclusive basis, of course, you will be mine…all mine!

Have you seen the new Garmin 620? Or the new Garmin 220? Are you gonna get one?

Dear Garmin Forerunner 405….

My Garmin and I met about 3 1/2 years ago. It was love at first sight. Oh sure, he’s a bit bulkier than I was used to and not the type of watch I’m normally attracted to, but what he’s lacking in appearance he makes up for in personality. He’s been a faithful companion since day one and I can say with pure honesty that I love my Garmin Forerunner 405.

But I have a confession to make.

My Garmin was becoming a pain in my butt. He was getting a bit testy. Running in the summer heat makes me sweat…buckets, and he didn’t like that. So he would change screens or sometimes just shut off and I was getting annoyed. And there were the tan lines. The obvious, ‘oh she wears a Garmin’ white line around the wrist of my otherwise tan arm. It was getting ugly.

I know, I should have given him some warning. I should have talked to him about it but it all happened so fast.

MacGyver rides a bike and he first suggested it, after realizing that I ALWAYS take my phone on runs with me. He said I could run faster without all the bulk. He said I could simplify. It’s mostly his fault. So I’m partially blaming him.

I’m sorry Garmin, but I’ve been cheating. And his name is SportyPal.

I know he doesn’t have all of your personality. He’s not the most advanced thing out there, but he makes things so easy. He tracks my time and distance, my calories burned and he’s pretty accurate, and I can also listen to my music or take phone calls without disturbing my workout….and I can do it all without tan lines. I know he can’t do all of the things that you can do and I still want to see you occasionally, but I think we need a little break. It may just be a phase that I’m going through but only time will tell.

I hope you understand. It’s not you, it’s me.

Are you still in love with your Garmin? Do you use an app?
