The weekend was a blast!

Happy Monday to you, or should I say Happy Fourth of July eve?  I guess it doesn’t really matter either way.  What matters is that I’m back in Clearwater and working today, and it kind of sucks.  I mean, I don’t mind work so much but going back to it after taking some time off and then knowing you’ll be taking the next day off is kind of a downer.  I should have just taken today off too, right?  You should too!

bad influenceI’m a bad influence.  You should probably not listen to me.

Over the weekend MacGyver and I spent as much time as we could with his sister and friend.  We did a little fishing, played Mexican Train Dominoes and hit up Tarpon Springs on Saturday.

mexican train dominoes

I think I was the overall winner. Just sayin

There are lots of cool things to do in Tarpon Springs but Laura and I were super excited about this opportunity.

Free WineIt may have been the wine or maybe all the sugar from Hella’s Restaurant and Bakery but afterwards, we girls got a little silly.

This was our best Charlie’s Angel pose but don’t worry we perfected it later.

See? Told ya.

Laura took this picture of MacGyver and I which I absolutely love!

Me and my man

You know how they say huge purses will cause back problems? I obviously didn’t get that memo because, ouch!

I also love this picture of MacGyver and his big sis.

Love!

After Tarpon Springs we decided to show the girls what we are lucky enough to get to experience at least once if not twice a week, fireworks!  We live by the Threshers stadium and are close enough to hear and see the firework’s display during baseball season every week.

Saturday night we decided to get closer and actually take a drive over to the stadium.  What we didn’t realize was that the game would go into overtime and they would end up playing a bazillion innings!

waiting

What inning are they in again?

We almost gave up and went home to watch them but I’m so glad we didn’t because…

Phillies stadium fireworks It was a blast, literally!  And we get to see them again tonite!  We’ll probably watch them from home though because MacGyver and I have really bad luck on July 4th.  We’ve spent 3 of them in Emergency Rooms and a few others with sickness or injury, so we stay home.

Tonight is the annual Kiwanis Midnight Run.  I thought about running it, as I thoroughly enjoyed it the last time, but I decided not to.  If you live in the area I do recommend it.  It’s really incredible to run over the causeway at midnight and the race proceeds go to a great cause.

That’s it for me, I’ve got a few hours of work to get done before another day of vacation.

What are your plans for the fourth?

I was never good at test anyways….

On Friday I got the results of my test from earlier in the week.  I was happy that they came back so quickly and I may have been a bit anxious because I called my doctor’s office literally 5 minutes after I saw the email that the tests were back.

Am i dying?

So, the results of my tests are…..

I need more tests!  Oh Joy!

My blood work was all perfect except for the C-Reactive Protein which was high.  The sed rate was at the high end but still within the normal range.  According to the doctor’s office, the CRP is a much more sensitive test and is indicative of inflammation in the body.  I didn’t need a CRP test to tell me that!

The MRI was another story.

my brain

This is a picture of my naked brain.

I think my MRI has confused doctors for years and since they can’t figure out what the problem is, they give up.  Basically my MRI shows the same thing it has showed for the past 6 or 7 years, just slightly worse each time.

The gist of the finding is something like this:

Several tiny foci of T2 signal predominantly within the subcortical white matter of both cerebral hemispheres with a single lesion adjacent to the anterior horn of the left lateral ventricle.  The differential diagnosis would include nonspecific changes of migraine headaches or vasculitis.  Small vessel ischemic disease and a demyelinating process cannot be ruled out.

and yada, yada, yada.

And then they go on to list out each of the sinuses and mention that there is chronic sinusitis, another thing I’ve had for over 20 years.  If anyone has any idea what MRI’s mean, by all means, I’d love to hear what you think.  I’m doing my best to stay positive but it would really help to know what the problem is so that I can plan my battle and develop an attack.

In the meantime, running is still going just slow.  I ran 6 miles on Saturday but that was all I managed.  I ended up with another migraine that afternoon and so Sunday, I decided not to push it.

A couple of things from this weekend that were pretty cool.  Because we live near the ball field we can see the fireworks during the home games and they put on a hell of a show.  This weekend they had a game on Friday and Saturday night so we had two nights of fireworks.  I took a short video because I’m a nerd.

I also realized that April showers bring May flowers, except we didn’t have a lot of showers in April so I wasn’t really expecting any flowers. Well there’s that and the fact that I didn’t plant any. Anyway, I went outside yesterday to get something from the garage and noticed that my gladiolus have bloomed!

gladiolus

And they’re pink!

And last night MacGyver and I watched Fear the Walking Dead and then Naked and Afraid. Did you catch the episode of Naked and Afraid?  Jesus Christ, the dude from last night was talking about how the whole experience was making him go to a dark place and making him want to hurt people, after like FIVE FREAKIN DAYS!  It was one of the weirdest episodes I’ve ever seen.  And, I can’t seem to get it out of my head.  Who thinks like that?

What’s on your agenda for today, got a run planned?

Have you ever had an MRI?
