15 miles before heading to the cabin where my running trail is no more…

So I thought I would check in and let you know that I’m still here.  It’s just that the kid is in town and we’ve been having so much fun I almost forgot about my little blog.  And then just when I decided to sit down and write a little post, bam, my internet took a crap again.  Thank you WOW cable and internet, you never cease to amaze me with the amount of mistakes you make and the crappy service you continue to almost provide.

sarcastic applause

Anywho, since we’ve got service for the time being, let me start by telling you about my awesome Saturday long run.

fifteen mile long run

Yep, I got my fifteen mile run done, albeit slow, it was still 15 miles and I did not get a migraine and I felt great afterwards.

The kid and his friend arrived around 1:15 in the afternoon and we hung out around the house because he was tired from driving for so many hours.  MacGyver and I went to get pizza and another of the kids friends came over so they all chilled on the lanai for a while.  It was a pretty low key evening because we had to get up early the next morning.

On Sunday at 5AM I woke everyone up and we hit the road.

four wheelin

We headed out to our cabin in Holopaw.  We didn’t bring our mud jeep this time because we were only going to be there for a few days and the guys weren’t interested in muddin all that much.  They had other plans.

guys shooting

In case I didn’t mention it, we have our own shooting range on our property.  MacGyver brought out a mini arsenal and they all wanted to shoot every single thing.

They set up tons of targets and the thing that launches the clay pigeons.  The kid is the master at skeet shooting.  For real.  He doesn’t miss.  Ever.  He loves it.  Unfortunately he also loved MacGyver’s Benelli and has informed me that’s what he would like for Christmas.  If anyone knows where I can get a Benelli super black eagle III on sale let me know.

While the guys were busy shooting, the dogs were busy napping.

sleeping dogs lie sleepy dog

I wish I could sleep through all that noise.  Silly dogs.

Instead, I was inside the cabin setting up dog town with new sheets.  For those of you who don’t know, our camp is actually called ‘Dog Town’.

dog sheets

Can you believe I found those dog sheets on clearance at Walmart after Christmas for only 7 bucks!  Score.  And bonus, they’re flannel.  Perfect for the cabin.  I also got a queen set for 11 bucks for our bed.

We did a bit of riding around while we were out there and we even did some Urban Exploration through some abandoned camps and I’ll post those photos tomorrow.  It was so much fun.  I could have done that for days.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to run on Monday morning because my running trail is grown over and since someone bought the lots around us, we have to reconfigure it anyways.

We got home around 9:30 last night and the guys must have been exhausted because I got up and ran 7 miles, walked the dogs and showered and they were all still sleeping.  Too bad because they missed this beautiful sky.

That’s it for me. I better get some work done while the internet is functioning.  Check back tomorrow, I promise you will love the pictures from our urban exploring adventures.

How was you’re weekend?

Wait, what? It’s Friday already?

Holy Crap y’all, this week just flew by, didn’t it?  I usually love it when that happens except it never does when it’s a regular work week.  It only happens when I’m having a birthday and family is in town.  Am I right?

Anywho, guess what?  I got the bike!  And. She’s a beauty!

And yes, I’m wearing my new Harry Potter t-shirt!

We opened our presents late on Wednesday night so I didn’t get to ride her until Thursday morning and oh my Lord, the difference between my old bike and my new one is like the difference between a Ford and a Mercedes.  VAST.

Specialized Bike

I wanted to go for a ride this morning but I didn’t have time.  I have an appointment with a client which requires leaving the house and so I’m forced to take a shower and put on some actual clothing other than my workout clothes.

yoga pants

I meant to update yesterday but honestly, I had a fun hangover.  We went to the mall and first we went to all the stores that give out free shit on your birthday.

disney buttons

Gotta love the Disney store!

And then, my sister-in-law and I went to this new store, ‘the winey wench’ to do some adulting.

wine slushee

Yes, that’s right, we walked around the mall drinking wine slushee’s!  How cool is that?  And while we were doing the wine slushee thing, thing 1 and thing 2 got pedicures from sucker fish.  No, I’m not kidding.

fish pedicure

The sads just hit me because they’re leaving today, but every year my birthday is better and better because I get to share it with my nephew and family.

What are you doing this weekend?

Have you had a fish pedicure?  Ever heard of it?

I’m a staunch character.

Last week I walked 3 days and biked a couple of days and I’m not sure how it happened but somehow I jacked my back up.

I think it’s because I pushed the pace of my walking and over stretched and possibly strained something but I don’t really know.  It’s frustrating because I followed the doctor’s advice and yet still, I’m sidelined. I can only speculate at this point but I think my diet may have also played a role.  I’ve been eating pretty shitty and some gluten has slipped past me a few times as well.  Oh, and let’s not forget the sugar and the dairy because when I slip up, I go all the way.

like a boss

No matter, tomorrow is my birthday and I intend to celebrate like a champ, back pain or not.  I’m hoping for a Specialized bike that MacGyver and I looked at last week so let’s hope he comes through.  I have a feeling he will but we’ll see.

Did you see the eclipse yesterday?  I think I mentioned that my mom was in the path of totality and can you believe she was just going to watch it on TV?  Seriously!  I demanded she make a pinhole viewer and get out there, which she did.  She also sent me some pictures which I was going to post but I’m a little lazy today.

Instead here are a few of my pictures from the event.

Yes, that’s me in MacGyver’s welding mask.

It’s cool but still a fail….

That’s the best picture I got.  #Fail!  My almost 13 year old nephew was hilarious because we got everybody all amped up and he was like, ‘that’s it, seriously?’  And then he drew an awesome cartoon that I was going to post but again, I’m lazy.

One more thing, the boys all went to our cabin for well, boy things.  So me, my sister-in-law, and my niece are having girl time.  We went to the pet store last night to buy worms for the birds and we saw newborn baby hamsters.

baby hamsters

Is that not the cutest thing ever?

Oh and also, we were sitting on the sofa talking about something and my sister-in-law was telling me something and she said, ‘I was becoming apoplectic’ and I was all, ‘Mother was apoplectic when you went missing’ and she didn’t get it because she has never seen Grey Gardens!

Well, I know what we’re watching tonite.

Did you watch the eclipse?

Was it all that you thought it would be?
