It’s a beautiful ring, it tracks your fitness, and helps you to relax, and I want it!

Some of you may have read my post about the Motiv Ring which still hasn’t shipped but is promised to do so soon, (sometime this summer for those of you who are waiting.)

I happen to be one of those people who can be a bit impatient, especially when I’m sporting a hell of a white ring around my wrist from my fitbit!  Mostly though, it’s because I’m a tech lover and an exercise addict and I just love gadgets, especially pretty ones.

So, I did some research on activity tracking rings and I found this one:

How pretty is this ring? Right?

It doesn’t track swimming but then neither does my fitbit.  It’s mostly for tracking steps but it also has a feature that helps you to unwind and de-stress.  No, really.  Ringly offers daily guided audio meditation and breathing exercises.   How cool is that?

ringly Now that’s a feature that I could seriously use.

And let’s not forget that it IS an activity tracker, calorie tracker, and it allows you to set your own goals and reminders.

If a ring isn’t your style, the company also offers bracelets.  Really cute bracelets.

And at only $169.00 for the ring, it’s just as affordable as any other fitness tracker on the market, only it’s pretty.  Really pretty.  And I have a birthday coming….

Have you heard about the Ringly?

Would you wear a ring for an activity tracker?

What do you think about the Ringly, too pretty or just right?  I think it’s perfect!

The future of fitness in 2017 for me, and maybe you too.

Happy Friday the 13th!  In case you didn’t know, it’s not actually a full moon, that was last night, but it is Friday the 13th and the full moon is still visible and according to folklore that’s a good luck sign.  Or I just made that up.  Either way, Happy Friday the 13th.

It's Friday

Now, let’s talk fitness!

My first choice for fitness is always running but I also enjoy other types of exercise and the benefits that I derive from it which is why I mix it up with yoga, strength training and weight workouts.  I also, like a lot of people, have the attention span of a gnat and if I don’t change up my routine I get bored and exercise becomes a chore.  This is probably why we’re always looking for the next big thing.  It’s exciting, it’s new and it keeps you interested.

I think 2017 will be the year of Instagram and Pinterest WOD’s and HIIT Workouts.

We’re a busy society and these are quick workouts that we can do anywhere and everywhere.  We can do them at home or when we’re traveling.  We can even do them at the office.  They’re convenient and quick but effective.

2017 will also be the year that our work clothes and our workout clothes become interchangeable.   Some of you may be thinking that yours already are interchangeable, especially if you already wear yoga pants to the office on a regular basis, but in my experience most of the yoga pants that I own would never be a welcome sight in most offices.   Quite frankly unless I wore a very long sweater over them they would never look professional in a work environment, and even then it would be a stretch.

These pants by Betabrand are amazing. They are my favorite work to work out pants by far.  They have a Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s look to them don’t they?

Betabrand yoga pants

Betabrand has a ton of options and any of them could easily go from the boardroom to the yoga studio, dance class or the gym.  These are going to be my new go to pants for travel in 2017 as well.  They are the most stylish, versatile yoga/work pants I have seen to date.

The biggest thing in fitness for 2017 that I’m looking forward to is also one of the smallest things, the Motiv Ring.

It’s not available until March but you can pre-order it now on the website.  I cannot wait to have one those rose gold beauties wrapped around my finger.  You can read more about the Motiv ring by visiting their website here .

What do you predict will be in your fitness future in 2017?

A holiday gift guide for serious runners.

It’s that time of year again. Crackling fires, falling snow, twinkling lights, and presents, lots and lots of presents! Ah, I love the holidays. Except here in Florida, we don’t get snow so there’s no need for the crackling fire, but we do love the sparkly lights, and the presents.

On Flipper...

On Flipper…

Every year around this time, I put together a list for my family of the things I’d like to have. (It’s okay, they ask for the list.) If you know me at all, you know that I love all things running so inevitably my list is filled with running related things. Usually I ask for some of the things that I already use but would like to have more of, such as socks or gloves or even iTunes gift cards. And on a few occasions I’ve asked for an item that I wanted really, really bad but couldn’t quite justify buying for myself, like a Garmin watch and a treadmill. (Lofty requests, I know, but I got the Garmin, two of them actually, I’m still waiting on a new treadmill.)

Maybe Santa got lost with the treadmill???

Maybe Santa got lost with that treadmill???

Last year I posted a list of some of the best gifts for runners, much like every other blogger out there but this year, this year is different. This year, I’m posting my list. That’s right, I’m posting my very own gift wish list. So, if you need to buy a gift for a runner or you need ideas about what to ask for, maybe my list will help. Conversely, feel free to choose an item from the list, purchase said item, and then ship it on over to me, I won’t mind, really.

Number 1

running spoon

It magically transforms all food into running fuel!

This spoon! I love this spoon. If I had this spoon I could use it to eat my oatmeal and other running fuel. In fact, I could use it for ice cream which would obviously turn the ice cream into running fuel because this spoon is so awesome, it has to be magical!

Number 2

running scarf
This scarf.
When I’m not in running clothes and I meet someone who runs, I feel the need to tell them that I run too and talk to them about all things running. For some reason if I’m talking to someone who’s in running clothes and I’m in street clothes, it makes me feel like less of a runner. This scarf would cure that and I would no longer have feelings of inadequacy due to my lack of running attire. I could even wear this scarf to a wedding and I probably will.

Number 3

Runners pillow casesThese Pillow Cases
How cute are these pillow cases? I only want these because I’ve never seen them before and I’m pretty sure I need them. In fact you do too, so go ahead and buy these pillows.

Number 4

Running Ornament
This ornament
I have black lab ornaments and dachshund ornaments all over my tree, it only makes sense that I should have a runner on there too, although I’d prefer the female version and without the name Mike.

Number 5

Crazy Runner
Six months of appointments with a therapist.
I’d like these appointments to be open so that I may use them at any time and not necessarily concurrent. I’d like to use some of them when I’m tapering and others when I’m injured, in lieu of killing someone.

Number 6

Body Glide
A lifetime supply of body glide and band aids.
The person who buys me this gift will be doing the world a huge favor. If I never run out of these supplies again, you will never have to hear me whine about my chaffing and blisters. This gift is so worth it.

Number 7
A gift certificate to my favorite running store.
No offense but I’d rather pick out my own shit and you will never go wrong with a gift certificate, ever. However, keep in mind that most running stores are expensive and if you want me to be able to get the good shit, I’m gonna need some major cash.

The “I’ really AM injured even though I keep telling myself that I’m not” pill. Oh wait, it’s not available yet? Damn! Nevermind..

Number 9 8

Michonne Walking Dead
Lessons in this class!

So there you have it! That’s my list.

What’s on your list this year?
