Deer at the dump

MacGyver and I spent the last 4 days in Nokomis.  Despite the fact that we have worked every single time we’ve gone down for like the last 2 months at least, there are still so many things to do.

Luckily, we are able to find the pleasure among the chores.  Case in point, these guys we saw at the dump while dropping off a load of tree debris.

Look close, those are turkeys

MacGyver spotted the turkeys, but I spotted these:

And I’m not gonna lie, we did manage to go to a few estate sales and garage sales on Friday and Saturday morning.  And on Saturday we actually headed down to Casey Key to check out the bait situation.

There wasn’t a lot of decent sized bait around but the shelling was ah-mazing.  We heard later there were whale sharks near the jetty but we didn’t see them.

Fortunately MacGyver and I have been able to remove a large portion of the tree but we still have some left.  It will have to wait til another day.

Sometime on Saturday evening I started to have some stomach pains and I still have them so I called my doctor this morning to see if I could get an appointment. I told them I had stomach pains and that they had gotten a bit worse over a few days and that I had even been so fatigued that I slept until 9AM on Sunday, which NEVER happens.  I told them I’d like an appointment as soon as possible and they said sure, at 10AM, on August 20th!

So I told them why I was calling again and explained that the pain was getting much worse and lasting longer and they said, ‘if it gets too bad you’d could always go to the ER’, and she followed it up with, ‘of course if it turns out not to be an emergency, your insurance may not pay for the visit.’

So I asked exactly how I could determine whether or not it was an emergency without consulting a doctor at which point she suggested I use the teledoc feature, all I needed to do was to sign up and then schedule, but they could probably get me an appointment within a few weeks.

Are you listening

It’s so exasperating dealing with these people.  I’d almost rather be in pain.  I finally decided that when and if the pain becomes constant or too much to deal with, I’ll just head to the emergency room.  In the meantime, they have me scheduled for that August appointment and I’m on the waiting list in case some one cancels.  I feel so special.

Since I wasn’t feeling well I didn’t run or lift at all on Saturday or Sunday but I did manage to walk 5 miles this morning and lift a little so maybe it’s getting better…we’ll see.

How was your weekend?

Did you do anything fun?

So tired….

I ran or walked every day last week and then Sunday came and I just decided to sleep in.  And even though I slept in I still managed to take a nap that afternoon.  And even after taking a nap in the afternoon I went to bed early.  I’m still tired.

Literally ever time I felt the slightest bit of energy yesterday, it lasted a second, and then disappeared.

This is an accurate representation of me yesterday..

so tired

I did do some lawn work yesterday so it wasn’t totally a loss and on Saturday, MacGyver and I went to some estate sales and I made a trip to Hobby Lobby.  Did you know that they have Halloween and Christmas items in stock and on the shelves already?  I’m not kidding.  I mean, it’s June people, JUNE!  What the hell?

you must be kidding

Oh and also, it’s over 90 degrees outside so it’s hard to even fathom that Fall is only 4 months away so quit already you silly retail establishments.  Besides, I haven’t even taken a summer vacation yet!

And seriously, I would love to start today and begin by taking another nap.

How was your weekend?

Maybe it’s Maybelline…

I always wake up around 5:30-5:45 AM, well, not always but most of the time.  Today was no exception.  I got up at 5:40 and piddled around for a bit before deciding to head out for a run.

I checked the weather first.

Did you happen to notice the feels like temperature?  Ahem, 89 degrees!  Ouch.  No worries, I can handle it.  The previous days before heading out it had rained just before I left the house and I was fortunate enough to actually see a rainbow.

Isn’t it beautiful?

This morning there was no rain and the chance of it was only 30% so I felt relatively sure it would be a rain free morning and I headed out the door.

I was wrong.  After only about a mile it started to thunder.  I don’t mind the thunder but typically when you hear thunder, lightning is close and you don’t want to be outside running in the lightning, not here in the lightning capital of the world.

So, I finished running 3 miles and then I walked another half mile back to my house.  By the time I got home the rain was pouring, sideways.

sideways rain

Can you see it?

I don’t really mind the rain, it is definitely making the lawn look fantastic, but the one thing I wish it would do that it hasn’t is wash the damn love bugs off my car.

love bugs escape

The irony is not lost on me….The Love Bugs Escape

They swarm at this time of year and you have to get them off of your car as soon as possible because otherwise they destroy the paint job.  And because they are everywhere right now, I have to wash my car every time I drive it.  It makes staying at home a lot more enticing.

Well, there’s that and the fact that I can stay in my pajamas all day.

Unfortunately yesterday was not a pajama day.  I had an emergency appointment with my dermatologist.  I was positive that a new rash on my nose was skin cancer.

It turns out that sarcoidosis can also affect your skin and my dermatologist believes that is exactly what my rash is, only he called it Lupus Pernio which really had me confused because I do not have Lupus.  He then explained that Lupus Pernio is the term used for the type of sarcoid on my face even though it has nothing to do with the disease Lupus.

I'm thoroughly confused

Well, that’s not confusing!

He said that it may or may not get better without treatment so we’re taking a conservative approach and watching it over the next few weeks.  It’s not really all that noticeable and I can easily hide it with makeup so it doesn’t really bother me and I’m just really glad it wasn’t something that would require a biopsy, because the last little chunk they took out of my leg just recently healed.

Anyway, the point of telling you all of this is so that if you see me out somewhere and I look like this:

makeup party

Don’t judge.

How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

Have you had a lot of rain?

Do you use makeup to hide imperfections of do you go makeup free and proudly wear your scars?
