MacGyver and I had planned on heading down to Nokomis on Thursday to spend four days what with the holiday and all. We were really looking forward to it and I had invited friends down but then Alberto decided to make an appearance so MacGyver decided that we should just stay home.
He said we could stay inside at home or stay inside down there so why not just stay home and save gas money.
Yeah, as you probably guessed it wasn’t exactly a wash out. In fact, I mowed and weeded the lawn and then I weeded all the mulched areas and trimmed back all the trees in anticipation. At least we’ll be prepared for the next one.
It did rain a lot, don’t get me wrong, it just didn’t rain the entire weekend. I still ran in it too because, well let’s be honest, who doesn’t feel a little bad ass running in the rain? Am I right?
MacGyver made me wear a shirt.
Sometimes things happen when we run. We tend to see all sorts of things. Sometimes we stop, sometimes we don’t.
On Saturday I was running and it was raining pretty hard but on my second loop around the neighborhood I saw something in the street and I stopped and now I am raising another baby.
Meet Squeakers. He’s a bluejay. We weren’t sure if he fell from the nest or if another bird grabbed him and then dropped him. His bluejay parents were flying around screeching but we couldn’t re-nest him because the nest was super high.
I’m glad we rescued him and are giving him a chance because the next morning I saw another one, the same size in the same area, dead. I’m pretty sure another bird had picked the next because it was half eaten. Squeakers has a tiny injury under his wing but it isn’t hampering his ability to flap them and he is eating and pooping just fine so hopefully in a few weeks, he will fly off into the sunset and live a happy bird life.
In the meantime, I’ve got a hungry bird that likes to be fed promptly, every half hour. It’s a good thing he’s cute.
Even Hank likes him.
He climbs up onto the chair so he can watch me feed the baby bird. It’s adorable.
Have a fabulous Tuesday!
What did you do this weekend?
Did you go anywhere or did you get rained out?
