27 miles, a birthday, a boat ride and why I’m avoiding stores and people.

Hello from Nokomis, Florida.  We’ve been here since Thursday night for a long weekend to celebrate MacGyver’s birthday, which was yesterday.  He’s still out fishing today so it looks like we’ll be headed home tonite.  I don’t mind at all because I’ve spent a ton of my time here,

The legacy Trailand here,

Legacy Trail

and here,

Legacy Trail

Seriously, does it get any better than that?  I mean how lucky am I?  Including today I ran 27 miles on that trail including this long run that I did on Saturday.

MacGyver and I worked on our house a bit too.  He’s been doing some work around the dock and in the canal and I’ve been trimming up all of the plants in the back.  It’s starting to look good and once we get it to a point where we love it, I’ll take some pictures.

For MacGyver’s birthday his parents took us for a late lunch/early dinner at this place.

If you’re ever in the Nokomis, Florida area, I highly recommend it.  It’s very, very good.

After we ate we all jumped in the john boat and took a ride down our canal.  It was such a treat to be out on the water after so many cold days.  Apparently everyone had the same idea because there were a lot of people out.  Here are some pics from our day.

Of course I had to take a few pictures of the pelicans.

One last pic because it’s probably winter where you are and you really need to see how beautiful it is here.

Makes you want to take a vacation doesn’t it?

We’ll be heading home later this afternoon.  I really need to go to the grocery store but I like to wait and go to the 24 hour Walmart around 1am because I’m terrified somebody’s gonna be out with the flu and I’m avoiding it as much as possible.  Every time my mom calls she tells me somebody died from it and MacGyver’s mom tells us the same thing.

Yesterday we made a quick stop at Winn Dixie and the guy collecting carts told us how serious the flu is this year and that tons of people are dying and and he told us how everybody should wear masks and how he thinks it’s a virus created by the government and I just kept thinking, why are there so many carts out here?  I was practically running away from him and he just kept spouting off facts that may or may not have been accurate. It didn’t make me any more fearful because that’s probably not possible anyway

I’m just gonna stay inside with my dogs.  This is a typical day for Hank and me.

Ain’t no lap like momma’s lap.

Just in case you don’t think he’s totally comfortable, here’s a better view,

How was your weekend?

Did you run?  How many miles and where?

Dirty thirty, are you gettin paid?

Hey hey hey.  It’s freakin cold here.  No, I’m talking cold.  When we woke up this morning MacGyver went to look at the outside thermometer and I asked what it said and he said, ‘dirty thirty’.

its cold

I’ve been waiting to use this meme forever!

I ran anyway because that’s how I do.  I ran six miles and MacGyver was all worried that I would get sick or something because he saw on the news that a woman who ran and was generally quite healthy just died from the flu.  He needn’t have worried about that.  I was perfectly fine running in the cold weather until some bitch ran a stop sign and almost hit me!

Crazy driver

Fortunately, I saw her and stopped just a few inches from her speeding car.  She didn’t even notice me.  Stupid woman.

Anywho, once I got home I heard about a new app that actually syncs with your fitness tracker data and pays you to work out.  Really.

It’s called sweatcoin.  I did a little research and it seems like unless you pay for the app your limited on the amount of sweatcoins you can earn each day but the coins add up and you can use them to purchase fitness related items, like fitness classes, fitness clothes or additional trackers.

I’m going to download it this afternoon but I’d like to hear from any of you who have tried it.

Do you use Sweatcoin?

What do you think about it?

What if I could die without these pills, then what people?

A few months ago my doctor switched my thyroid medication from Levothyroxine to Nature Throid.  The changes that happened with my body after the switch were remarkable.  My blood pressure normalized, I didn’t feel the need to take afternoon naps and I felt more like myself than I had in years.

OH MY GOD! This is what normal feels like!

There was just one problem.  When I went to the pharmacy to have the medication filled they informed me that there had been a shortage and they could only partially fill my order.  They explained that this was normal with some medications and that by the time I needed more they should have them in stock.  I left the pharmacy with enough medication for the next 7 weeks.

I ran out of them over the weekend.

oh shit

OH SHIT!

I called the pharmacy that I originally went to and placed the order on their automated system and they said I could pick them up that afternoon.  So, late yesterday I went to pick up the order.  The pharmacist couldn’t find them so he went to the back for at least 10 minutes and then came back up front with nothing in his hands and I just knew.  They didn’t have them.  There is obviously still a shortage.

what the hell

Isn’t that just my luck.  I finally find a medication that is natural and that works for me and that doesn’t cause side effects and then just like that, it’s gone.  The pharmacist recommended that I call other local pharmacies to see if anyone has it in stock.

One day and about 300 phone calls later, I found 73 pills this morning.  At two pills a day, that should last me for almost 5 weeks.

better than nothing

Yes, I guess it is.

Of course based on my experience thus far, I’ll have to pick these up and then continue to make calls every day until I run out.  Otherwise, I will probably never find them again.  Stupid thyroid.  What the heck would I do if I needed these pills to live?  #Frustrating

Do you take any medications daily?  Why?
