I’m a staunch character.

Last week I walked 3 days and biked a couple of days and I’m not sure how it happened but somehow I jacked my back up.

dammit

I think it’s because I pushed the pace of my walking and over stretched and possibly strained something but I don’t really know.  It’s frustrating because I followed the doctor’s advice and yet still, I’m sidelined. I can only speculate at this point but I think my diet may have also played a role.  I’ve been eating pretty shitty and some gluten has slipped past me a few times as well.  Oh, and let’s not forget the sugar and the dairy because when I slip up, I go all the way.

like a boss

No matter, tomorrow is my birthday and I intend to celebrate like a champ, back pain or not.  I’m hoping for a Specialized bike that MacGyver and I looked at last week so let’s hope he comes through.  I have a feeling he will but we’ll see.

Did you see the eclipse yesterday?  I think I mentioned that my mom was in the path of totality and can you believe she was just going to watch it on TV?  Seriously!  I demanded she make a pinhole viewer and get out there, which she did.  She also sent me some pictures which I was going to post but I’m a little lazy today.

Instead here are a few of my pictures from the event.

welding

Yes, that’s me in MacGyver’s welding mask.

fail

It’s cool but still a fail….

That’s the best picture I got.  #Fail!  My almost 13 year old nephew was hilarious because we got everybody all amped up and he was like, ‘that’s it, seriously?’  And then he drew an awesome cartoon that I was going to post but again, I’m lazy.

One more thing, the boys all went to our cabin for well, boy things.  So me, my sister-in-law, and my niece are having girl time.  We went to the pet store last night to buy worms for the birds and we saw newborn baby hamsters.

Is that not the cutest thing ever?

Oh and also, we were sitting on the sofa talking about something and my sister-in-law was telling me something and she said, ‘I was becoming apoplectic’ and I was all, ‘Mother was apoplectic when you went missing’ and she didn’t get it because she has never seen Grey Gardens!

staunch

Well, I know what we’re watching tonite.

Did you watch the eclipse?

Was it all that you thought it would be?

Does someone have a big life insurance policy on me?

Are you one of those lucky people in the path of totality who will actually see the full solar eclipse today?

path of totality

My mom is pretty close where she lives in Tennessee however, we are not.  We’ll be able to see a partial eclipse but I’m still excited about it.  If you want to know how much of the eclipse you’ll be able to see, you can visit this really cool site here.

We just got back from Nokomis last night so we’ll be watching from here.  I’m glad I’m watching it from anywhere because I was nearly decapitated on Friday.  No, really, I was.

MacGyver and I were trimming the canal from our John boat and we were throwing the clippings in the middle of the boat.  MacGyver tripped over all the brush and fell backwards with the sharpened loppers in his hand and they scrapped right across my collar bone narrowly missing my neck by an inch!

neck injury

We laugh about it now but it could have turned out really bad.  That’s why on Saturday MacGyver asked his brother to help finish the job.  I cleaned the house instead and I also had lots of help from my awesome sister-in-law and thing 1 and thing 2.

Afterwards, we went to dinner at a new restaurant that we hadn’t been to yet, and then we all went to the drum circle.  Because I live to embarrass myself and those who love me with my most awesome dance moves.

And now the family is on their way to Clearwater to spend the last week of their vacation with us.  I am pretty lucky to be able to share my birthday with my nephew.

Happy Birthday Thing 1, I love you!

Our birthday’s are Wednesday by the way, in case you want to send presents.

Now, get out there and watch the eclipse today but make sure you have the right type of glasses or use a pinhole viewer.

Boomer America

These are obviously not the right type of glasses but fortunately Boomer doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the eclipse.  Dog treats, that’s another story.  He’s open for any and all sponsorships, (and I’m not above pimpin out my dogs for early retirement), just sayin’.

Are you going to be watching the eclipse today?

Will you be able to see the full eclipse where you are?

It’s a beautiful ring, it tracks your fitness, and helps you to relax, and I want it!

Some of you may have read my post about the Motiv Ring which still hasn’t shipped but is promised to do so soon, (sometime this summer for those of you who are waiting.)

I happen to be one of those people who can be a bit impatient, especially when I’m sporting a hell of a white ring around my wrist from my fitbit!  Mostly though, it’s because I’m a tech lover and an exercise addict and I just love gadgets, especially pretty ones.

So, I did some research on activity tracking rings and I found this one:

ringly

How pretty is this ring? Right?

ringly

It doesn’t track swimming but then neither does my fitbit.  It’s mostly for tracking steps but it also has a feature that helps you to unwind and de-stress.  No, really.  Ringly offers daily guided audio meditation and breathing exercises.   How cool is that?

ringly Now that’s a feature that I could seriously use.

And let’s not forget that it IS an activity tracker, calorie tracker, and it allows you to set your own goals and reminders.

If a ring isn’t your style, the company also offers bracelets.  Really cute bracelets.

And at only $169.00 for the ring, it’s just as affordable as any other fitness tracker on the market, only it’s pretty.  Really pretty.  And I have a birthday coming….

Have you heard about the Ringly?

Would you wear a ring for an activity tracker?

What do you think about the Ringly, too pretty or just right?  I think it’s perfect!
