16 Miles and the last minute blues

Can you believe that Christmas is this weekend?

Christmas Wonder

I feel like I’m ready but then I don’t.  I mean the presents have been purchased and the ones that need to be mailed have been mailed but you know what happens is this.  Every year I get everything done about a week to ten days before Christmas and then as luck would have it, bam, I gen inundated with thousands of emails from obviously well-meaning merchants who obviously have my best interest at heart.

“Dear Flower, there’s still time for those last minute gifts.  Don’t worry if you didn’t get that special gift for that certain someone, we’ve got what you’re looking for and we can get it to you in time.”

And then I start freaking out and thinking that maybe I didn’t get enough presents.  Maybe I didn’t buy the right things.  Maybe I need to buy more.  Maybe I need to exchange things.  Maybe I need to find some more time to shop, what time does that sale end?  When is the cut off for free shipping?  Will it be delivered on time?

shopping stress

I need to just finish all my work by the week before Christmas and then shut down my email until the day after.

MacGyver and I were in Nokomis over the weekend and I ran a total of 16 miles on the Legacy Trail, the most important of which was my long run on Saturday, a total of 8 miles!  It was lovely.  Absolutely lovely.  And in case you’re wondering, no migraines.

I hope all of my future long runs continue on like this…..

I’ll catch up more a bit later.  In the meantime, I have to finish all my work and do a ton of last minute shopping I didn’t realize I needed to do!

Do those last minute shopping emails get you too?

  1. That is really just amazing that you have gotten back to running w/ no migraines. You are on the 1/2 dose of the topomax, yes? And with that dose you don’t have the sleepiness but the migraines are gone?!? So, so great! I am actually pretty good at not getting last minute gifts. I mean, I might buy for MYSELF but that’s another story. I have saved all my baking and gift wrapping for this week because I am off from work (until Jan 3rd). It’s been nice to have this final week to relax and focus and really enjoy the holidays! That being said, I really look forward to the new year and the countdown to spring! Waaaahhhh, I hate the snow 🙁

    • LOL, I hate snow too, hence the reason we never go anywhere in the winter time. 😉
And yes, I’m only on 2 tablets at night and I don’t take any in the morning even though my dr wanted me to take an additional two. Eventually, I’m going to try to wean myself off completely. After marathon season of course, lol.

      • Sweet! I know you can do this. I can’t wait to follow along on your journey to a marathon. Did I miss your update on if you have celiac or not? What’s the status of that?

        • Still undetermined although my GI doctor feels that I do they cannot make a positive determination if I’m not ingesting gluten and because my health has improved so much without it he doesn’t want me to eat it again just for the sake of a test. And I agree. I don’t think I need the test for now. We still have the camera test to do after the first of the year and some additional things but the gluten caused me so much pain Imma have to avoid it for now, and happy to do so. 🙂

          • Very smart! I tested negative for celiac when I had my endoscopy, but the minute I start eating wheat, I get a very bad rash on my core. I have just given it up for the most part. I will still eat a sandwich occasionally but mostly I just stay away.

          • I ave realized during all of this testing and my research that there is so much that we still don’t know in regards to our digestive systems and I hope more and more research will be done because I think the root of a lot of disease will be found there.
