I was never good at test anyways….

On Friday I got the results of my test from earlier in the week.  I was happy that they came back so quickly and I may have been a bit anxious because I called my doctor’s office literally 5 minutes after I saw the email that the tests were back.

Am i dying?

So, the results of my tests are…..

I need more tests!  Oh Joy!

My blood work was all perfect except for the C-Reactive Protein which was high.  The sed rate was at the high end but still within the normal range.  According to the doctor’s office, the CRP is a much more sensitive test and is indicative of inflammation in the body.  I didn’t need a CRP test to tell me that!

The MRI was another story.

my brain

This is a picture of my naked brain.

I think my MRI has confused doctors for years and since they can’t figure out what the problem is, they give up.  Basically my MRI shows the same thing it has showed for the past 6 or 7 years, just slightly worse each time.

The gist of the finding is something like this:

Several tiny foci of T2 signal predominantly within the subcortical white matter of both cerebral hemispheres with a single lesion adjacent to the anterior horn of the left lateral ventricle.  The differential diagnosis would include nonspecific changes of migraine headaches or vasculitis.  Small vessel ischemic disease and a demyelinating process cannot be ruled out.

and yada, yada, yada.

And then they go on to list out each of the sinuses and mention that there is chronic sinusitis, another thing I’ve had for over 20 years.  If anyone has any idea what MRI’s mean, by all means, I’d love to hear what you think.  I’m doing my best to stay positive but it would really help to know what the problem is so that I can plan my battle and develop an attack.

In the meantime, running is still going just slow.  I ran 6 miles on Saturday but that was all I managed.  I ended up with another migraine that afternoon and so Sunday, I decided not to push it.

A couple of things from this weekend that were pretty cool.  Because we live near the ball field we can see the fireworks during the home games and they put on a hell of a show.  This weekend they had a game on Friday and Saturday night so we had two nights of fireworks.  I took a short video because I’m a nerd.

I also realized that April showers bring May flowers, except we didn’t have a lot of showers in April so I wasn’t really expecting any flowers. Well there’s that and the fact that I didn’t plant any. Anyway, I went outside yesterday to get something from the garage and noticed that my gladiolus have bloomed!

And they’re pink!

And last night MacGyver and I watched Fear the Walking Dead and then Naked and Afraid. Did you catch the episode of Naked and Afraid?  Jesus Christ, the dude from last night was talking about how the whole experience was making him go to a dark place and making him want to hurt people, after like FIVE FREAKIN DAYS!  It was one of the weirdest episodes I’ve ever seen.  And, I can’t seem to get it out of my head.  Who thinks like that?

What’s on your agenda for today, got a run planned?

Have you ever had an MRI?

  1. My agenda contained having windows and doors replaced.

Doubt I’ll get a run in tonight but I hope to do one tomorrow. Umm, it’s been awhile since I’ve ran… 🙁

    • LOL, MacGyver put in two new windows in our bedroom over the weekend. He started at 8am Sunday and I was still sleeping so it was not the best idea he’s ever had, hehe.

      • I’m trying to picture the scene of him removing and installing windows in the same room as you were sleeping in.

The noise and dust of 18 installations was fun. They didn’t give me a room of refuge like they were supposed to. Oh well, they’re finally in. 🙂 I can’t wait to see the affect it has on the train noise.

        • Fortunately that’s what MacGyver does, (he owns a window and door company) so he can remove and install quickly, the noise though, it’s ridiculous. If you got impact windows your gonna love em but any of the new windows will be much better for noise than the older style. Trains close by, ugh. I would hate that.

  2. I had an MRI 20 years ago because I had the ‘aura’ of a migraine. No headache, it just affected my vision, (I saw flashing lightning strikes), and slurred speech. The MRI came out normal. I think my symptoms are definitely stress related because after I divorced my husband, I didn’t have the aura for about 10 years, and they only occur now if I am very over worked, or running a ton of mileage. I also truly believe that low blood sugar has something to do with it. Wishing you all the best as you undergo more tests. xo

    • Thank you Jade! I hope you don’t get the aura’s or any migraine’s too often, they certainly are sucky and an overall pain to deal with and I’m glad you’re MRI was normal. 🙂 I have heard that sugar can exacerbate migraines, so I agree with you that low blood sugar probably does have something to do with them.
