After having a migraine for most of the day on Sunday and eventually taking 2 benadryl to knock myself out last night, I wasn’t sure I’d feel like running this morning, but I did. I ran 3 miles, a little progression run that started with a 9:30 mile and ended with an 8:33.
I would have loved to run longer but it’s been unseasonably hot here and I’m not even kidding, it’s hot!
I guess when everyone else has got a foot of snow on the ground and the only option is the treadmill for them, I’ll be over here in the sunshine and somehow the heat and humidity won’t seem all that bad.
This past weekend went by so fast which is weird considering that with the clocks going back we actually gained an hour. I don’t know if it’s just me or if it’s a normal thing but it messes me up every year. It’s crazy, I gain an hour yet I still feel like I need more sleep.
Anyway, we came back from our Cabin on Friday night and on Saturday morning I got up and drove the kid to work. Afterwards I came home and ran a quick 3 miles and then took Hank for a walk. Boomer didn’t want to get out of bed and after walking Hank, he went right back in the bedroom to join his brother, (and MacGyver was also still sleeping), so I did the only thing I could do, I mowed the lawn.
Later I went to the store and bought candy for the trick or treaters which Hank likes to help hand out. Boomer just paraded around in his sheep costume until he got tired and fell asleep. It was a good night although a bit slower than normal. We only had around 90 kids this year.
I woke up on Sunday and left for a long run which was turned into only 7 miles because, weather UGH! It was just too damn hot for me and I pushed it too hard and forgot my Replace SR pills which is why I ended up with a migraine for most of the day. It sucked.
I did manage to track a few of my friends running the NYC Marathon as well as a few pro runners. I was really pulling for Alana Hadley who at 18 years old was the fastest American woman coming into the race. She had to drop out around mile 15 due to an ankle injury which was so heartbreaking.
I hated seeing this from her twitter account, it gave me the sads:
I really want to see her progress and I’m excited to see what the future brings her.
Another one of my favorites is Laura Thweatt and she finished seventh which also happens to be the seventh-fastest time in New York history by an American woman. I may be way off base here but I think 7 might be her lucky number, just sayin.
A big congrats to Kenyans Mary Keitany and Stanley Biwott who won the marathon.
And you can call me a gawker if you want to but I love checking out the celebrity runners and seeing how fast they are. In case you like that sort of thing too, here’s how some of them did:
Ethan Hawke 4:25:30
Alicia Keys 5:50:52
Katrina Bowden 4:17:23
Nev Schulman 3:34:31 (Holy shit, Nev can run!)
James Blake 3:51:19
Last night MacGyver and I watched the Walking Dead. It was okay and I understand the need to tell the backstory but I found it a little drawn out last night. The biggest shocker for me was seeing Lennie James, (who plays Morgan), on the Talking Dead after the show and realizing he’s from England! I had absolutely no idea.
I mean, let’s be real, most of the actors do a pretty horrible job at faking a southern accent, Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan, but Lennie James nails it!
Well, that’s it for me. I gotta get some work finished so I’ma need to go for now.
Did you follow the NYC Marathon?
Did you know anyone running or did you run?
How was your Halloween?
What’s your weather like?
