Speeders shall be stoned!

The past week was awesome. I got to spend time with my sister and her husband fishing and hanging out in Englewood. They had to leave yesterday afternoon and MacGyver and I had to return to Clearwater and get back to work as well.  Unfortunately, my sister and I never did catch the elusive snook we were after but the guys did. Here is MacGyver’s catch.

We were all impressed, even Hank!

Maybe my sister and I will have better luck for crappie season, if we can stay away from the damn catfish.

Fast forward to today, I woke up this morning and it was 73 degrees. SEVENTY THREE! Of course the best part is, the dew points were only in the sixties so the humidity was much lower than usual. Y’all that is some cool and crispy weather for this time of year.

Don’t get me wrong, it will still be around 88 – 90 degrees by the afternoon but this morning was pure bliss and with lower humidity the afternoon should be almost comfortable.  I said almost.

I should’ve really run outside with those temps this morning but I chose the treadmill instead because, well, I missed it. I can’t believe I said that either.  Somebody pinch me.

I ran 6 miles at a 1% incline and I was happy with that but I just really wanted to be outside so I took the dogs for a walk. My dogs love to take morning walks. Actually, they love walks at any time of the day but especially in the morning.

Did somebody say walk?  Walk?  Walk?  Yes please!

I left the house around 8:45AM with Boomer and Hank in tow. I decided to take them on our usual route which is around a half mile through the neighborhood. The speed limit in our neighborhood is 25 mph. It’s posted in numerous locations but apparently it isn’t obvious enough because I am constantly dodging cars driven by idiots.

That’s why when I saw this sign, I knew I had to have it.

speeding sign
Wouldn’t that be an awesome sign to have? I wonder how long it would last before someone ripped it down.   Or sped over it….I’m betting less than a day.  In the meantime I guess I’ll just be forced to throw rocks at those speeding bastards until I get myself one of those signs.

Do you run outside even when it’s hot?
What’s your ideal running temperature?
Have you ever narrowly missed a speeding car while out running or walking?

  1. Yes, I always run outside.
Saturday, I was completely soaked after my run! I hope it’s cooler after work.
I don’t have an ideal temperature but I like less humidity! 🙂

  2. Ohhh I had the same reaction to the weather today!! It was FINALLY under 80 this morning. It’ll be up there by this afternoon, but man it was nice to go out in the morning and not sweat at 630am. Today is a rest day…. but i might need to do something because it’s so nice out!!

  3. I have to laugh because that weather sounds AMAZING! We’re starting our days around 50 right now and ending up around 65 or so.

Last summer I trained through the 90 degree weather and found it near impossible to find a good time to run. I don’t know how you do it year round!

    • I definitely had to learn to love the treadmill and fans, LOL That being said, it must be really hard to run in really cold weather too. I’m such a wuss, I could never handle running in anything under 30 or snow, definitely not snow.

  4. Sounds like a great weekend! 🙂
-I try to run early in the morning. If it’s one of those morning that’s 85* and 99% humidity I am at the gym. I am not an afternoon or evening running, just to do schedule and I kinda like just getting my runs done and out of the way.
    -Ideal temperature if 50* 🙂
-I run mainly on RT so no near hit or misses by cars, Thank God.

    • I am an early morning runner too. I used to do nights years ago but I just can’t with that anymore. A run first thing in the morning gets me started and helps keep me motivated and focused. 🙂
