Friday Five, Reality TV and a watermelon turtle

Blue Bell is making ice cream again! I do like Blue Bell ice cream, like a whole heck of a lot, but I have to admit the first thing that came to mind when I heard that they were back in production was the safety of their products. Obviously that was based on the reason they had to halt production in the first place.

Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who thought that way, check out this tweet:

I think this guy is my new best friend.

Besides ice cream, I love watermelon and I will be the first to admit that when watermelon season comes to an end, I will cry. But since that isn’t going to happen for a bit, I’m going to seize the opportunity to create these creatures that I saw on the cover of this magazine while down in the Keys.

frog and turtle watermelonHow cool are those guys?  Mind you, mine will look nothing like that but I’m sure I’ll have some fun trying.  I can’t wait to make the turtle!

Since we’re on the subject of food, I read about a taste test involving all the flavors of Oreo cookies. It’s no surprise to me that the author chose the Reeses mini Oreo flavor as the winner, it just sounds delicious.  I have put off trying these due to my disdain over the candy corn oreo cookies, but after reading the article, I’m tempted….

Yesterday I decided to get back on the treadmill and pound out some miles. I was determined to get in 6 full miles no matter what, and guess what, I did it!  And then this morning I got up, got myself on the treadmill again, and I ran 5 more miles. That puts me at 20 for the week which was my goal and I nailed it!

You know that feeling you get when you finish your goal, that I’m superwoman, Queen of the World, Don’t get in my way, I rock, kind of feeling? Yes? No?

Well, it sort of feels like this:

Go daddy air pump

I love this woman, LOVE!

I can do anything, seriously, I can.

Lastly, I wanted to share with you the story of Linda Kleinbub. Linda was a stay at home mom. Her kids were grown and moving on and she longed to go back to school and start a new life.  But Linda was feeling bad about herself and she needed a change.

After losing 35 pounds with the help of weight watchers, Linda did one of the most dramatic things that most people could ever imagine.

Reality TvLinda went on Reality TV to improve her appearance and her smile. This is her story and as I was reading it, I thought about her standing in that box at the beginning of the process and how hard it must have been for her.

I wondered if I ever had the chance to do what she did, could I subject myself to that type of scrutiny, or would I? I’m still not really sure.

If you had the opportunity to go on Reality TV for a makeover would you do it, and what would you want to have done?  I still don’t know if I could do it but I think if I did, I’d probably want everything that they offered because I’m sort of a sucker for makeover shows. And also I’m pretty sure I’d get sucked into the excitement of the top plastic surgeons working on me, which is probably another reason why I should never do it.

  1. If I were on that type of show, I would definitely go for some sort of sun/age spot work on my face. The years of hanging out in the sun with sunscreen are showing! And maybe they could zap away some spider veins too? I’m not asking for much here!
We are growing some “personal size” watermelons in our garden this summer. Those little animals would be perfect… if they ever get that big!

  2. For a makeover like that, I would definitely do it. If I looked 10 years younger I’d look 20 haha so I don’t really need that, but I would definitely go on there for my teeth, and then i would go on extreme body makeover with chris and heidi because I love them, and I’d love to get super in shape. I’m not very overweight now (i could lose like, 10lbs) but oh man. to work out with them? heck yes, sign me up! haha

    • I’m with ya sister. If I could save the money that I would typically spend at the dentist I can only imagine the glorious shoe collection I would have 😉 And, I would probably cut off my right arm, (okay maybe a finger or fingertip, yeah fingertip), to work out with Chris and Heidi, love them.
