I bit off more that I can chew

I bit off a bit more than I can chew this weekend.

biting off more than I can chew

I feel you turtle man, I do.

Let’s start with last Friday afternoon, shall we?  On Friday afternoon I made a trip over to Lowe’s with the kid.  Since we decided to stay home for the weekend, I thought it might be a good time to paint my bedroom so I bought lots of paint.

The last time that I painted it was years ago and unfortunately I used the wrong type of paint.  I won’t bore you with the details except to say that I have 2 walls primed and that’s as far as I’ve gotten and when I think of what’s left to do, I feel like this…..

This could go on for weeks….WEEKS!

In case you didn’t know it, I’m not really good at taking my time with things.  I like to just get them done.  Unfortunately,  I spent all weekend on this room and now it’s the weekday and I have other things that have to be done, like that job thing, ugh!

MacGyver refuses to help because he wanted nothing to do with painting the room in the first place.  Besides, he’s a little preoccupied with his new toy.

The mold of the fish he caught a few weeks ago.

This is the 42″ Snook that he caught….

So I’ll just have to resort to working on it during breaks and at night and hope I get it finished this month.

Since I was painting the bedroom this weekend I only had a chance to watch one episode of Orange is The New Black but it was hella good.  I can’t wait to see more.

I did manage to run both Saturday and Sunday and I was smart and ran on the treadmill.  I did 4 miles on Saturday and 5 on Sunday.  It was a nice break from the painting and although I would have liked to run more I just couldn’t find the time.

I did get a chance to wear my new romper on a trip to Lowe’s.  I’m not sure I like it with flat shoes and also because I have such a long torso I’m not sure it looks all that great.

The pattern is really cute though so that’s a plus.

All right, I need to get to work so I can find the time to paint today.  Oh joy!  And yes, that’s sarcasm.

Do you like painting?
Do you paint your house yourself or hire someone?

  1. I think we all bite off more than when we chew at some point in our life. I’m currently kind of in that situation right now!

I am not a home owner but have painted for my landlords before. I honestly didn’t care for it and probably wouldn’t do it again!

  2. I hate painting and I am allergic to latex so I have to wear a gizmo that looks like a gas mask. I like the final result, but I am a perfectionist and it takes me FOREVER. I dated a painter years ago. The bonus was he was the guy who did all the cut work. I don’t think the boyfriend would approve my calling him to come paint our house. I still have paint for the bedroom that needs to get up. Problem is I hate the color now. How do I solve my painting problem…Wash the walls all the time. Obsessively. I would hire someone, but the BF would give me hell for spending the money.

Darling romper! I can’t wear them because of my long torso. Hello wedgie! I just scored a cute dress on eBay that has a similar pattern. Ebay is my new addiction.

Following your treadmill lead and hitting it tonight. Must train for the half…must train for the half… UGH!

    • You’ll rock that half and the treadmill is totally the way to go when it’s hot and humid.

I have a long torso too and I was surprised that this romper actually fit.

Painting…..I am way to anal retentive to be doing this. I think I am suffering brain freeze from the fumes and with my OCD, I’ll still be painting next month. A secret: I’m painting because I bought a new duvet and it doesn’t match my bedroom and I couldn’t just return it, ah hell no that would be too easy, instead I’ll just paint the entire bedroom. hahaha…I’m an idiot.

  3. I like painting and have never hired anyone to paint for me. Buttttt it’s one of those things that seems exciting before you do it and then gets old pretty quickly. I can’t remember a time I’ve painted and haven’t been counting down the minutes until I’m finished with the room haha.

    P.S. I like your romper!

  4. I don’t mind painting itself, but the prep work drives me crazy, especially someplace like a bathroom where you have to tape a bunch of corners around a shower and take towel racks down.

    • Yes! The prep work is horrible, I totally agree. Just when I thought I had taken off all of those covers on the electrical outlets, I’d find another one. And painting around windows….ugh! Hate it!

  5. I loathe painting but we just bought our first house, and so it has to get done. I like paint and primers in one (I like the Behr line from Home Depot) and I don’t have to do any prep – I mean I still hate painting but it isn’t so bad this way – good luck!

I think the romper looks cute!
