Friday Five – don’t buy these at Trader Joes

Yesterday morning I ran 3 miles…..outside! And they were fast-ish which made me all giddy inside. I was worried after running on the treadmill for a while with my industrial strength, super fan that I wouldn’t be able to handle the heat, but I did.

Now, let’s talk about some things that happened this week.

First, let’s talk about Josh Duggar.  WTF? I don’t buy for a minute that these were ‘mistakes’ made during his teenage years. Something is wrong here, terribly wrong. I also find the details of Mr. Duggar’s exile for ‘training’ questionable at best. There are reports of multiple victims including his own sisters. This entire report sickens me.  If you haven’t heard about it, please click on the link above.

If you watch anything at all today, please take a few minutes to watch Rachael’s video. Rachael is suffering from anorexia and she is literally dying. She posted this video on YouTube because she really does want to get better, but without help, she won’t.

I warn you, it is painful to watch.

My prayers are with this girl and I really hope she makes it.

In truth I read this next article because the headline kind of grabbed my attention but I’m sharing it with you because it’s on point. I don’t think I’m alone when I say I tend to ignore pain from time to time but maybe, armed with this info, I’ll never ignore anything possibly life threatening and hopefully, neither will you.

This article pretty much sums up what I’ve been saying for a few years, there are some things you should never buy from Trader Joe’s.

Trader Joes

Wanna know what they are?  Click here.

And I’m going to end this post as I started it, talking about running.  Only, this conversation is more of a warning.

If you run in the Tampa Bay especially in the Lakeland area, be careful. A runner was attacked this week near Lake Hollingsworth Drive. When you’re out there running be aware of your surroundings, pay attention and take all of the necessary steps you can to ensure that you are safe.

I hope you have an awesome weekend and I hope you’re lucky enough to get 3 days off.

  1. I’ve been completely out of the loop and didn’t know about the Duggar family issue. I’m shocked as well. And kind of surprised they still have the show running. Are there plans to cancel it?
I’ve never bought anything at Trader Joe’s. One day I’ll see what the hype is about but so far I haven’t been interested enough to battle for a parking space at the one close by 😉

    • The latest I heard is that TLC has cancelled the show and I think they did the right thing. Trader Joe’s is what I would call an experience but it’s not my regular store and probably never will be. You’re not missing anything except maybe the stress of finding parking which I can tell you first hand is now picnic. 🙂

  2. That Duggar situation is so weird. And we do watch the show. This is not just teenage behavior, which it seems like they are passing it off as. I could totally understand if he got caught fooling around with a girl from church or something else that was mutual. However, doing things to sisters while they are sleeping is really sick. He almost had to have been abused himself.

  3. I LOVE Trader Joe’s, but I definitely stick to certain items. I have had success with their fruit and veggies, but I normally only buy the bags that are on sale super cheap (a large bag of peppers or mandarins for less than $3, etc). I think their meat is overpriced and haven’t been tempted by the seafood. Their cheese is super cheap too, but last time one of them went moldy on me super fast. I’ll still buy it though..just have to eat it faster. 🙂

    • I haven’t had any luck with fruits or veggies unless it’s bananas or apples, something we eat really quickly but I do love some of their cheeses and I buy them all the time, probably too often 😉
