I sneezed on the beat and the beat got sickah!

I was feeling a bit better this morning so I went for a run. I always follow the neck rule when I’m sick to determine whether or not I should run, and that’s what I did today. I didn’t push myself too hard and kept it easy with 3.5 miles.

I also wore one of those cooling towels around my neck which felt great but I had to make some last-minute adjustments because previously when I’ve worn that thing around my neck it slid down and eventually fell off.  I had to resort to shoving the ends of it in my sports bra.  It worked although it wasn’t the most attractive situation.

This morning I had an epiphany and this is what I used:

chip clip

Yep, that’s a chip clip!

One of the biggest reasons I wanted to run this morning is because when I was bored and sick yesterday I put some new songs on my iPod and I wanted to see if I liked running to them.

I’m sorry to say that most of them were fails, but these are the ones that made the cut:
Flo Rida – GDFR ft. Sage The Gemini and Lookas
Beyoncé – 7/11
David Guetta – Hey Mama ft. Nicki Minaj and Afrojack
Galantis – Gold Dust

You know what else I did yesterday?  Pinned stuff. It took me a long time to get familiar with pinterest. At first, I didn’t like it all that much and I thought it was just another piece of social media I was going to have to eventually learn, but I wasn’t all that enthused about it. I had the account forever before I really pinned much of anything. Really only recently did I start to use it more often, and I’ll tell ya, I am now addicted to it.

Addicted to pinterest

Pinterest is freaking awesome, you can design entire rooms in a matter of seconds. I’m well on my way to designing an entire house full of rooms. I’m pretty sure I’ve become a pinterior designer! I should get paid for that, right? I mean, that should be a real job.

I also saw a video yesterday that you guys might really like. It’s very short but it’s a lesson in humility that every runner should watch. This Oregon runner is pretty sure he’s got the race in the bag, so sure in fact that he starts to celebrate and encourage the crowd to cheer for him. Only, he doesn’t win…

What a dipshit! Guess he won’t be doing that again.

So tell me
What do you do when you’re home sick?
Do you run when your sick?
What’s your favorite running song right now?

  1. Ah, the neck rule. Neck pain is a big indicator I don’t need to run.
I totally forgot about my cooling towel! I hate running with extra stuff but if I clipped it on, maybe it wouldn’t bother me as much. That’s an idea.

  2. How did you not pin before now? I had to follow! I felt the same way about that pin thing. The OCD in me is not liking how disorganized my boards are, but ehhh, I will let it go. I really do use my boards. Recipes, workouts, articles, clothes….and a spirit lift when needed.

Sorry to hear you have been sick. That sucks. My allergies are acting up something fierce.

What do you do when you’re home sick? Whine! (get absolutely no sympathy from the boyfriend who is a bigger whiner when sick!)
Do you run when your sick? Only if it is a head cold. No to fevers and chest congestion. My asthma acts up.
What’s your favorite running song right now? The sound of my breathing or today it would be wheezing because of allergies. I don’t run to music.

      • Thanks! I would totally get those socks of yours if my calves were not the size of my thighs. Darn genes!

You need to have an Up & Humming board to all of your fabulous finds and posts. I believe I have pinned off of your blog before. Forgive me. I have that add-on in Mozilla. Makes it easy. You have hilarious stuff on here that I would pin. You need to start a Daryl love board:)

  3. OK, I was going to cook some dinner for the kids but now I have to go and check out the ‘Pin’ thing. I was so like you and trying to avoid it but I feel myself being drawn in.
I’m sssoooo embarrassed for that runner – I can’t bare things like that. I feel their pain too much.
Hope you feel better soon (I fake being sick all the time so I can lye on the sofa all day watching reruns of the West Wing and pretend to myself that I have an important job in the White House).
