Tech Tuesday – the Misfit Flash

Looking for an affordable fitness tracker to keep track of your steps? Something similar to say, a Fitbit.  How about one that even works while you’re swimming, running, or playing soccer? What if you’d also like to track your sleep and not just the duration but the quality? Sounds like the price is getting higher and higher…or is it?

Fifty bucksRecently I read about the Misfit Flash, a fitness tracker that runs around 50 bucks. Fifty bucks! The Misfit Flash is actually a watch but it is so much more.

Check out the activities this thing can track!

Yeah, swimming is on the list because this thing is even waterproof to 30 meters!

And check out the information it gives you:

And if you don’t want to wear it as a watch, you can clip it on. But let’s talk about the absolute best thing of all….

YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO CHARGE IT!  NEVER!

It operates on a single coin cell battery which lasts up to 6 months. This thing is always on, just pick it up and put it on and you’re good to go. Or just wear it continuously. I kind of dig the fact that you can clip it on, but I also like that you can wear it as a watch and that the band comes in so many colors. That’s a huge bonus in my book.

Now, to be fair, I’ve been reading about this product but I haven’t purchased it yet, so I can only tell you what I’ve learned from my research and not from experience. That being said, I am going to purchase one because based on all of the reviews I’ve read, it looks like a sound purchase. You can find reviews about the Misfit Flash all over the internet, here’s one that I found recently on youtube.

As with any product there have been a few negative points that I’ve read about. Some people have complained that the product seems a little cheap due to the fact that it is plastic and some people have complained about the lack of a heart rate monitor function but other than that, everything I’ve read has been positive.

If you have the time, visit the manufacturer’s website and let me know what you think.

How do you research a new fitness product before you purchase it?

  1. I read Amzn reviews and look for articles by gadget reviewers.

That’s a decent price. I’ll probably get one for my dad if it’s easy enough to use. I looked at a different Misfit one. I look into it more later. I’m too busy soaking up the sun at the beach ;). It’s a perfect day for it.

Sorry to hear about your break in!! That’s awful and so aggravating.

    • I wish I would have gone to the beach today! It was a great day for it. If you get the misfit for your dad let me know how he likes it. My Mom has a fitbit but I want to get her the misfit because she wont have to charge it and she always forgets to charge things 😉
