Thursday Things – Team Work

Y’all it’s so cold. I know you have no sympathy for me, especially if you live anywhere north of Georgia but dang, I am freezing my tookus off!

running weather
I went for an 8 mile run this morning and with the wind chill factor it was 41 degrees. Forty. One! We will probably only reach 49 as the high today, and tonight will be 33. If it continues on this path, I may have to consider moving south, but since Miami’s high today is only around 60, Cuba is in the running for my new homeland.

After I got home from my run this morning, I went through the garage and onto the back lanai, just as I normally do. Typically I leave my shoes and my visor out there and the dogs are always out there to greet me. This morning, they were not there.

At first I was a little worried but then I called them and after a few minutes, they came out. Boomer seemed a little skittish and Hank was avoiding me. I should have known something was wrong. I should’ve known.

As soon as I opened the back door and looked into the den I could see it. A ridiculously long trail of garbage that began in the kitchen and went through the dining room, living room and ended in the den.

dogs make mess

Just picture this… only with a lab and a dachshund and way more garbage.

And of course they waited until I left this morning, you know, right after I emptied the coffee grounds and the dirt from the vacuum cleaner into the trash.

There it was, all over the floor and in all the main rooms of my house, the entire contents of my very large, and now empty trash can. God bless the little baby Jesus because it was all I could do to keep from smacking the crap out of both of those dogs. They’re hellions!

After I cleaned all the floors I was finally able to sit down and go through emails. I wish I had done so sooner because the email that I’m going to share with you is only valid for 24 hours.

That is one hell of a deal. ***UPDATE – Sorry guys, the deal is over, they are now back to $24.95. I hope you were able to get some when they were $14.95.

And now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go research weather patterns, because a friend just left me a message telling me the temperature in Cuba today is only 64! God Bless it.

What is the temperature where you are today?
Do you prefer hot or cold weather?

  1. Haha we came home to the same thing not long ago! But it was only our older dog that did it and I’m sure it was done out of jealousy. She’s not thrilled we got a puppy but she’s dealing…in her own way haha
The weather here was perfect with highs around 70 but now we have temps in the 50’s and 60’s with clouds.. we desperately need rain!

  2. Woke up this morning to a temp of 12 below zero. Just checked and it is now 7 degrees with a windchill of 8 below. What do I prefer? HOT, SWEATY WEATHER! I hate winter with a passion. I know what people say…”but, it’s so pretty when it snows” and “the changing seasons are beautiful” and “you get used to it”… I have seen enough in my lifetime to never see it again and you do not get used to it! This week I have had three days stuck on the expressway because of weather (should not take you 1 1/2 hours to get to work and then another 1 1/2 to get home, my car is perpetually filthy, salt destroying everything, windows that will not open for another two months, a dog that can’t play in the back yard because it is up past his belly… Yeah, I am bitter! Oh and we are getting another three inches this weekend with no warm up in sight. I am a miserable “B” today:)

Hopefully you did not jinx me by posting about the doggy antics. I was just saying how wonderful our little tater tot has been. Other than sock stealing, he is pretty good! We don’t want to talk about the time at around 2 1/2 when he got a hold of my garden journal and destroyed it. Probably the worst thing he ever did and was bad enough that the boyfriend was scared to tell me. With a sad face, he pulled out this mass of chewed up pictures, journal pages, drawings and he had tried to tape them together. I sobbed like a baby. I could care less about the other house stuff, but somehow that broke my heart a little. So silly because I adore that little guy and it is just a thing.

Hope it warms up in your parts. The local weather guy calls that a “cuddle alert”!

    • I am pointing my hair dryer in your direction stat! The cold weather sounds miserable, and I don’t blame you one bit for being upset about it. I would probably develop wrinkles by the hour anywhere north of here. I’d be forced to live in the mall. That might not be so bad, I could probably do wonders for the economy and the national debt…hmmmmmmm

Fortunately Saturday’s high will be 72 and we’ll be back up to the mid to high 70’s on Sunday. MacGyver can hold onto the money 😉

I hope your weather eases up soon and that you have a fabulous weekend.

  3. With the windchill, it’s -24F here today! On the weekend, though, it’s supposed to be back up +21F. So we’ll all be headed to the beach lol.
We have four cats and when they get into “trouble”, it’s still pretty cute!

    • I just can’t do cold. I’m a big wuss! It’s okay though, not many people can run in the heat down here, so I guess I have an advantage in the summer. 😉 Enjoy that warm 21F, I’ll be in hibernation til we break 60! hehe

  4. I did a 5.5 mile run in -7 windchill. And degrees? Well there wasn’t one: zero degrees. Zeus my white golden retriever had frozen saliva on his muzzle. The edge of my hat was white with frozen breath. BUT it was sunnnnnnny…. That makes it all better right?

  5. It’s about 49 right now. We have a wind chill advisory. We’re huddles around a space heater out in the hangar.

Oh my! The mess! My dog has only once gotten into a garbage. But she’s a spiteful pee-er sometimes.
