The Friday Five with a cow.

For those of you who know me extremely well, (Mom), you may know that To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite novel. Almost as interesting as the novel is the life story of the author, the reclusive Nelle Harper Lee. A childhood friend of Truman Capote, Lee released her first novel in 1960 and despite its overwhelming success, she never released another.

To Kill a MockingbirdUntil now.

Earlier this week, it was announced that a second novel will be released this July! Go Set a Watchman is the sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird and was actually written first. Go Set a Watchman is the story of Scout as a young adult coming back to her hometown. Lee gave the manuscript to her editor all those years ago but they liked the flashbacks of Scout and suggested she write about Scout’s younger life and To Kill a Mockingbird was born.

I cannot wait to get my hands on this novel!

Since we’re on the subject of authors, let’s talk about Joan Didion. Have you seen the ads for Celine featuring Didion? I love them! There is beauty in every age.

Last night MacGyver and I went to Aldi for some milk and eggs. Seventy five dollars later we walked out with a car full of groceries and one insanely large chocolate chip cookie with icing. It was divine and I would know because between the kid and myself, we’ve already eaten half of it.

I’m currently waiting on my insulin drip but I have no regrets.

Git Down Cow! Go in that house! Git down, go on cow! Wait, doesn’t everyone have a cow who climbs in and out the window? No? Well, this lady does!

And the final thing, The Best Damn Race.

Vest Damn Race Half Marathon

It’s this weekend, and I’m headed over to the expo this afternoon. Here’s hoping I have a good race this weekend but mostly, that I have a great time! 🙂

What are you doing this weekend?
Are you running a race?
Are you running the Best Damn Race? (If you are, you better let me know because I want to see you there!)

  1. Have an awesome race!! I’m sure you’ll enjoy every second of it!
Thanks for sharing about Lee’s next book! I loved To Kill a Mockingbird so I’m totally looking forward to another one of her books!

  2. I’m filing (or at least working on) my taxes, hope to do some running (crazy rain and tornado? here) , and preparing for an interview.

Good luck at the Best Damn Race!
