Hi all, how are you today? I’m sort of raging right now since I just spent most of the day figuring out our health insurance because Obamacare is just so, it’s just, it’s….don’t get me started.
I’m going to move away from the subject for now but we’ll revisit it at a later time, I promise.
Anywho, we were in Venice for the weekend. Originally we had planned on going to our cabin but the roads were still bad and quite honestly, I missed Venice. Besides, I wanted to see the house looking all festive again before Christmas.
I wasn’t going to run this weekend since I ran 10 miles on Friday but once we were down there, I had to do an easy 5 miles on my beloved Legacy Trail and that’s exactly what I did Saturday morning. I was surprised my legs didn’t feel tired since I hadn’t taken a day off since Monday but they felt great!
After running, MacGyver and I went to look at some real estate and took a trip to Nokomis Groves before heading out on the boat. The honeybells aren’t in until January but the navels were pretty good so we got some of those. I also might have scored a few tangerines…but not from the Grove…
We decided to take the dogs out on the boat with us because the weather was perfect for Boomer. Typically with his weight and all that black fur, he gets too hot but at 68 degrees, he was in heaven.
Since we were only there for a few days we didn’t bother with the big boat and used our john boat instead. The dogs seem to like it better and it’s easier to get in and out of the water and doesn’t require a trip to the boat ramp.
We decided to try some fishing in the bay which turned out to be okay for MacGyver as he landed a pretty nice Sheepshead but I had no luck at all.
Fishing with our dogs is not easy. First they ate all of the shrimp that MacGyver had for bait and then they tried to eat the fish as he reeled them in. Couple that with all the attempts to jump out of the boat at the sight of these guys….
and it was a pretty hectic fishing experience.
The highlight of the day though came in the form of Santa on a jet ski! Seriously. Unfortunately he was a bit fast for my picture taking capabilities but it was an awesome sight to see. I hope he’s there the next time we go down and if he is, I’ll do my best to get a picture.
After our day on the boat MacGyver and I went to dinner at Bonefish Grill. I ate so much bread and drank so much wine, I had a bloated hangover the next day. It was not a good decision obviously, but in the moment, it was pretty nice.
On Sunday, I sent MacGyver out to fish alone so that I could do some things around the house. Winter is the best time to get the landscaping under control since it grows so darned fast most of the year. I trimmed back some plants and pruned a few of the bushes.
Obviously Hank was a huge help when I was working in the yard…
We came home late Sunday night and are now back in Clearwater.
It was a cool 46 degrees here this morning and so I ran 8 fairly easy miles. I love wearing long sleeves and capris!
Sorry for the blur but that’s an action shot. 🙂
And before I go, I checked the Sport Chalet site this morning to see if the Brooks Pureflow 3’s are still on sale for $49.97 and guess what….THEY ARE! AND, they still have quite a few in stock. So, if you haven’t gotten a pair, go there now if you want some.
