We had a wonderful day and I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. They’re my favorite people in the entire world. And now, I’m going to go get the weekend started.

What are you doing this weekend?

What was your favorite gift this year?

Merry Birthmus Eve!

Since the Kid was born on Christmas Day, we say Merry Birthmus up in this house! 🙂 Just go with it.

We started our celebrating last night with an early birthday dinner at the BEST BBQ joint in Florida, Hungry Harry’s. The kid really wanted pulled pork for his birthday dinner and MacGyver and I knew the perfect place.

Hungry Harrys

The Kid got here around 4:30 and we left around 5 to head over to Land O Lakes.

I’m dreaming of a ….run on the trail bridge we’re about to whiz by…..

Love running on this bridge...LOVE IT!

Back to the story.

So, we went to Hungry Harry’s. I tried to take lot’s of pictures, (other than trail bridges and running paths) but the Kid and MacGyver were not having it. They were in serious, ‘eat ALL the all you can eat bbq’ mode and that is serious business with my guys. The kid went all out.

hot sauce

No thank you sir, that’s too hot for me!

The kid loved the hot sauce, so much in fact, that we had to buy a pint for him to take home. He was a happy camper.

Hungry Harry’s has more than pulled pork and bbq, they offer a variety of food.

And I chose the best thing on it….

brownie with ice cream

I slept in this morning. This is a rest day for me. MacGyver and I took the dogs for a walk. And then I tried to get them to pose with the Santa who lives on my lanai….

Santa Paws

Um, yeah, NO! I will not sit on this guys lap, EVER!

I wish I could fit in that guys lap…I love him so much, I’m gonna give him a big ol kiss!

My dogs have more personality than I do!

After taking far too many pictures, MacGyver and I did a little last-minute shopping. I wore my Snowman Earrings. I got these a craft fair last year and forgot all about them so this is actually the first year I’ve ever worn them.

We picked up this tin full of nuts and I’ve eaten 1/3 of it already!

And I got my Christmas ornament for this year. It’s the best! Check it out,

Hope you’re having an awesome day with your family and friends. I’m going back to the festivities now….

Do you have a Christmas Eve Tradition?

The recipe for the dessert that will change your life!

I think I promised y’all a recipe today. Typically I don’t share recipes because, well let’s face it, I don’t really cook. This recipe however is my Grandmothers and it’s for the best Christmas treat EVER. Hands. Down.

peanut butter bon bons
This will be your favorite thing from this point forward, trust me.
Side Note: I’m giving you the recipe for a double batch because otherwise you will have a shit ton of chocolate left over and no one in their right mind would throw away a shit ton of chocolate, am I right?

So, for the actual bon bons, here’s what you’ll need:

2 Cups (16oz) of Creamy Peanut Butter
2 Cups (16oz) of Confectioners Sugar
2 Tablespoons of softened butter
2 Teaspoons of Vanilla Extract

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix together

Roll the mixture into balls between 1 to 1 ½ inches round

roll into balls
Chill them in the fridge for an hour

For the coating, you’ll need the following:

ingredients for coating
A Double Broiler
¼ lb of Paraffin
6oz of Milk Chocolate Morsels
6oz of Butterscotch Morsels
(You can also use dark chocolate, white chocolate or any combination you choose. Just be sure to add 12 total oz of morsels.)
Put water in the bottom of your double broiler and bring it to a boil.

Put the top of your double broiler on and melt the paraffin first.

Melt the Paraffin
Next add the Chocolate and the butterscotch morsels.

Stir the mixture until all the morsels are completely melted. Be sure to turn your double broiler down to simmer at this point.

Now you’re ready to coat the bon bons.

After many years of making these, I’ve found the best way to coat the bon bons is with a fancy little culinary tool I call…a corn pick.

Corn Pick
Coat the bon bons and then place them on wax paper.

Dipping the bon bondry them on wax paper
I use a little fan to help them dry quicker but it’s not really necessary.

Once you’ve coated all the bon bons, you’ll want to go back and fill in the hole from the corn pick. Just quickly dip the other side and then place them back on the wax paper.

Let the coating thoroughly dry and then place them in a tin for the best gift ever!

Are you going to make my peanut butter bon bons? If so, let me know how they turned out! Please.
