WTF Wednesday with a side of Armadillo

It’s storming here. There’s not a lot of rain like we normally have in the summer, but the lightning and thunder are ferocious. I actually like it, except when it knocks the cable or the Internet out, then it just pisses me off. Clearly, I have needs….

Guess what?

I got a new computer! I know, I know, it’s about time right? But here’s the thing, I have serious anxiety when it comes to learning a new system. It kind of freaks me out. So, the new computer has been sitting on the counter since we brought it home at noon yesterday. I did manage to register it and then I put in the security key for internet access but that’s as far as I got. I wasn’t even the one who took it out of the box and charged it up, MacGyver did. I am afraid of my new laptop! What the hell is wrong with me?

computer hatObviously this fear is irrational but since it’s not going away, I’m just going to deal with as best I can. For now, I’m throwing a blanket over it.

I don’t have the same reaction when I get new clothes or new shoes. I NEED to put those things on immediately. New shoes make me wanna run and jump.

Have I mentioned that I’ve been working on my planks? I’m up to 2 minutes now. That may not seem like a lot but I promise you it’s ridiculously long for me. I do 1 two minute plank in the morning before I run and then I do a series of 30 second planks for 15 minutes 3 times a week. I’m pretty sure behind that little layer of fat you might actually be able to see a 2 pack. It’s coming….patience and persistence, right?

Oh, did I mention that this is how we plank in Florida? Like a Boss!

Did you know that armadillo’s have really bad eyesight? Well apparently they do. I would know this because twice in the past week I have collided with them while out running. On Saturday I literally tripped on one on the Legacy Trail because he walked out right in front of me. This morning a huge armadillo came out of the woods just as I hit the path to Kapok Park and we ending in the exact same spot. I stepped on the back of his tail and then jumped over him. He scampered off into the sea grass after charging at me first. It was a little unnerving but it did prompt me to research them hence the reason I know they have poor eyesight. Armadillo

What’s the best animal encounter you’ve had on a run?

Are you afraid of new technology?

How long can you hold a plank?

  1. I was just talking to my sister about planks! I can hold a high plank for 1:20.. and a low plank for 1 minute. I just started doing them again this week. They’re my favorite kind of ab workout.
I’m pretty afraid of wildlife so I’m glad we don’t have a bunch of wild animals roaming the streets and trails… except wild dogs like coyotes and pitbulls.. gotta watch out for those 😉

    • I feel kind of sorry for the coyotes in our local park because they really seem like they want to be friends. My husband thinks I’m an idiot, but they do look extremely well-fed and friendly and the rumor is that one of the local guys who works out there daily also feeds them. But one day, I will pet one, just sayin.
