If you’re sweaty and you know it clap your hands…

For my Saturday run, I decided to try for 8 miles but end sooner if need be considering the temperature was 77 degrees with 100% humidity as I walked out the door. I made it 7.16 miles and then I called it a day. It’s just too hot for me and since I don’t technically start my training until next month, I’m playing it safe and ramping up very slowly and honestly, I’m okay with that.

Today was one of those days that reminded me of a Saturday morning a few years ago when it was just as ridiculously hot and humid. Except on that Saturday I was training for a race and I had a tempo run planned so I ran 5 miles at an average 8:30 pace after which I just collapsed on the grass in a sweaty pile and then proceeded to drink my weight in water.

I'm a sweaty runner

I might have even fallen asleep, who knows for sure. What I do know is that about 30-40 minutes later I was completed hydrated and dry and just about to get up and walk home when this 80 pound waif of a girl plopped down right beside me. Waif girl was completely dry, in full make up without an ounce of sweat. She proceeded to tell me that she just ran 5 miles and that she needed to rest for a few minutes, in the shade, because she was burning up! Really? Bitch wasn’t even sweating!

Girl, please

Oh well, I guess I’m the sweaty girl. I’m back at home now and I’m enjoying some orange slices and watermelon so life is good.

If you follow Janae over at Hungry Runner Girl, you might know that she is running a marathon today. (Go Janae!) Anyway, yesterday she posted a pic of 3 outfits she was considering wearing for the marathon and asked for everyone’s opinion on which outfit she should wear. A lot of people loved the shorts in outfit 3 and even asked where she got them. The shorts are from Brooks and I know this because I too have them. Only I never pay full price for anything….these are the shorts I have….

Are you a sweaty runner? Do you think you sweat more than other people?

  1. I feel like I sweat an average amount, but I find that unless it’s super humid I don’t sweat until after I stop running. Then it pours and it’s miserable. I wish I’d sweat more while I ran so I could cool down a little!
Those shorts are so adorable, thanks for the link!

  2. Oh girl, I’m a super sweaty runner! I got my sweat on this morning and posted about “sweating it out” before I ran. Today’s just a sweaty kind of day! šŸ˜‰
That non sweaty girl reminds me of that little quote: “if you still look cute after a workout, you didn’t work hard enough “

    • I love that quote! šŸ™‚ Looks like the next few months are gonna be crazy hot and humid, so I’m just gonna embrace the sweat. šŸ™‚

  3. 10 years ago I didn’t sweat much. But now I’m soaked after 10 or 15 minutes. Especially this time of year in Florida.

    • I’ve heard that the better shape you’re in, the more efficient your body cools you down hence you sweat more…I hope that’s the case…either way, I’m going with that. We’re just in great shape Rich! šŸ™‚

    • I seriously wrung my shirt out this morning after I finished running. I should have been embarrassed but I have no shame šŸ˜‰

  4. I wish I were a sweaty runner… unfortunately, I don’t sweat when I run, so I overheat and have been known to collapse when running in the sun šŸ™ Being sweaty may not look good, but it’s better than being in a heap on the floor! I LOVE those shorts šŸ™‚

    • Oh my goodness, I would definitely rather sweat than collapse, I hope that doesnt happen to you again! That sounds terrifying.

And those shorts have the coolest pockets in the back. If you click on the link you can see them from all angles. Brooks does a great job in designing clothes for runners, imo. šŸ™‚ Have a great Saturday!
