A beautiful Run – and it’s a pictorial!

Do you ever read about running routes and actually wish you could see it because it sounds so amazing? Or have you read about the place someone ran and they show you only one measly picture and then you’re left hanging, wanting to see more? That happens to me all the time….and it sucks!

So today, I decided to photograph my run and tell you all about one of my favorite routes. Don’t worry, today was a short run so I’m not gonna bombard you with 100 pictures, more like twenty, but they’re good, I promise, because this place is beautiful.

Are you ready to see the beautful park I run in?

Are you ready to see the beautiful park I run in?

Well here ya go, may I introduce you to Kapok Park,

First off we have to run over some railroad tracks. I’m always afraid I’m going to get hit by a train even though the only time I EVER hear the train is at 4AM.

Running over Railroad Tracks

After you run over the tracks you enter the park:

Welcome to Kapok Park

Kapok Park is located at the end of the Ream Wilson Trail and sits upon a lake. The lake is very popular among local photographers mainly because of all the birds, turtles, plants and event the gators.

Kapok Park is also home to a disc golf course. I was never familiar with disc golf until that time I got hit in the head with one. Too bad I didn’t read the warnings beforehand:

Flying discs

After seeing the contraption that they were aiming for, it’s no wonder they hit me in the head instead…

Disc Golf Receptor thing

This is the Disc Golf Receptor thingy. How does that even work? (I’m sure some disc golf expert will let me know, I’m almost positive…)

After entering the park you run beside the lake which is located on the right.

The lake

Running around the lake

It’s really beautiful and if you go early enough you’ll see lots of wildlife. I’ve even seen a coral snake on the trail, but that’s not exactly a good thing. Coral Snakes = BAD!

Entering the foot bridge

After a while, the path turns into a foot bridge and you run over the water. It’s very quiet and I love to run without any music and just listen to all the birds.

There is one part of the lake where it’s very marshy. It’s also probably one of the best places to dispose of a body if you ever had to do that sort of thing. Not that I would know, but it looks like it would be anyway, just sayin.

Where would you ever find a body in this place? The gators would probably eat it.

There is a point on the bridge where it splits and you can continue on the trail or head out to the fishing pier. This morning I decided to go out to the end of the pier and just breath in the beauty.

fishing pierIt is gorgeous, isn’t it? But can I just ask, who exactly is this sign for?

Gators, do not molestThe feed part I get, really but the ‘molest’ part always cracks me up. Who wants to molest a gator anyway?

The path then circles around and you run beside the lake and then over it once again.

I hope I’m doing this park justice. It’s really insane how beautiful it is.

The Park

If you ever come to Florida, you have to come run here and I’ll come meet you. Afterwards we’ll go get froyo, and Hank will even drive us. He’s an excellent driver.

Hank drives for froyoWhat is your favorite place to run? Describe it to me.

A bike fail, some nattering, and why I love spell check.

So, I took the day off from running this morning and I went for a bike ride instead. If you’ve read my blog you probably know that I am not the best biker in the world and you probably also know that my bike is a piece of crap. Both of these things are still true, but I can’t run 7 days a week, so the bike it is.

Bike Fail

This morning I rode 11.5 miles in just under an hour and 10 minutes. That’s not really fast but I don’t know how to change my Garmin to bike mode so I’m pretty sure that Garmin connect thinks I loaned out my 620 to Shalane Flanagan or Kara Goucher. Never in my life have I run 6 minute miles, and this might be a stretch, but I’m pretty sure I never will – but Garmin thinks I can and I’m pretty stoked about it.

Run Flower Run

My bike still has issues with the chain which is probably why, at mile 4 while changing gears, my foot slid off the pedal and this happened:

bike fail number 12000000

That’s gonna leave a bruise…

It happens to be located right behind my ringworm so that leg looks like a mangled mess right now, nice.

My computer is still acting up and I haven’t found another one yet. This morning I got the blue screen of death. I was able to bring it back to life by turning it off, removing the battery, blowing on it, replacing it, and turning it back on. I’m not sure blowing on it did anything but I was afraid to lick it. It’s working so I guess I did something right. (Tell me you lick your batteries…you do right?)

I also did a little weight routine last night. Since the kid has moved into the man cave, I don’t have a home gym anymore, which is okay, except for those times when I want a home gym. I improvised and worked out with a kettlebell out on the lanai and it wasn’t too bad. We’ve got a pretty sweet set up out there including 2 TV’s because you know, sports and stuff. I don’t know what it is about TV but it makes me work out way longer than I normally would probably because I forget I’m actually working out.

Once again I’m going to attempt to find a new computer today and maybe a new bike too. I found another pony bike on the internet and I think they’re pretty sweet and I’m convinced I need one.

I really need this sweet bike. I bet it even farts rainbows!

I really need this sweet bike. I bet it even farts rainbows!

If I had that bike maybe I could end my streak of hurting myself every single time I get on one….

On a completely random note, I just spell checked and imagine my delight when it suggested changing lania to labia. Oh spell check, you slay me!

Have you ever crashed your bike or had a major bike fail?

What’s the best thing spell check has ever changed for you?

I love running and Kate Upton stole my look!

Happy Monday!

How was your weekend?

Mine was pretty good. Definitely relaxing. I ran 8 miles over the weekend, 5 miles on Saturday which is my longest run post injury and 3 miles on Sunday. Both days felt pretty good and I also got in 3 miles this morning. I would say I’m back to running! I would also say I’m lovin it and maybe even doing a little happy dance.

Stanky Leg

This morning, I came around a corner at around 2 and half miles and nearly nailed an armadillo! It scared the crap out of me and it took me a few minutes to realize what it was. Did you know they don’t see very well? Well, they don’t, obviously, because I was running pretty slow and breathing pretty damn heavy so you would think the damn thing would have moved out-of-the-way, but no, he just kind of sauntered. In hind sight, he was probably thinking dang lady, you are soooo slow. Freakin armadillo, eat this!

Did I tell you we’re having baby Mallards. Well, we are not having them, as in me and MacGyver, that would be impossible, but the mallard couple that lives in my pond, they’re having babies. I’m pretty excited about this because I love the mallards. I’d love to have tons of mallards, miscovy’s, not so much but Mallards, yes please.

The mallards share the pond with a few cormorants, herons, woodstorks, and also lots of turtles. I spent a lot of time this weekend feeding them.

Turtles in my pond

Tommy and Timmy Turtle are my homeboys.

Can you see the cormorant?

And relaxing….

I was watching a little T.V. last night and I saw the previews for the movie ‘The Other woman’. I didn’t notice at first but the second time the preview came on, I realized, Kate Upton is wearing my dress! Did you hear me? KATE UPTON IS WEARING MY DRESS!

Kate Upton Dress from the other woman

That's my dress KATE!

That’s my dress KATE!

It’s MY DRESS!!!

My Kate Dress

Now, I’m not throwing shade or anything but I bought my dress almost a year ago so I wore it first and there’s proof of it right here. In my book there is no such thing as who wore it better, it’s who wore it first, and bitch, I win!

I’m going shopping now. Apparently, I need a new computer, unless y’all want to read a bunch a b’s between every other word because my Toshiba feels that it is necessary to insert multiple b’s randomly. This entire post just drove me crazy because it took me an hour and a half to go back and find them all and delete them.

That’s all I got.

Have you ever seen a piece of your clothing on a celebbbbrity?
