The best long run I’ve had and a seahorse.

Hey from Venice. We are down here for the weekend. We got here late yesterday afternoon.

We were pretty hungry by the time we unloaded the car and put all our things away so MacGyver and I decided to try a restaurant that we haven’t tried before, the Left Coast Seafood Co.

Left Coast Seafood Co AppetizersWe got a half order of onion rings for an appetizer, yes, that’s a Half Order! I had a Caesar Salad and MacGyver had the Fish Chowder (which had no shellfish, we had to ask because I’m allergic) and it was incredible. I have no idea what they put in that soup but honey let me tell you, it was pure heaven.

For dinner, MacGyver had a Crab Sandwich and I had the Chicken Pasta and they were both awesome.

Left Coast Seafood Co.Total Cost for Dinner: $34.16 and I had wine!

If you ever come anywhere near Venice, Florida you must go to the Left Coast Seafood Co. Best food at the best price, I swear. Be prepared to wait a little while because they are super busy and the service is a wee bit slow but it is worth it.

And while you wait you can check this out:

SeahorseHere’s a better view:

Seahorse FloridaI love Seahorses! They’re the coolest sea creatures ever. Well except for the manatee we saw today. Sorry no pictures, he was shy.

This morning I woke up early and ran 14 epic miles on the Legacy Trail.

running in Venice FloridaIt truly was the best long run I have in ages. The temperature was around 54 degrees, the humidity was not high and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. But the reason it was such an awesome run is because I had a goal to pace myself at 10:30 a mile for 14 miles without stopping and I nailed it! For the last few months I’ve been breaking up my long runs into either 2 or 3 parts and I’ll stop and drink water for a minute or two along the way. Unfortunately, my times were all over the place and I was getting migraines afterward and my form was off toward the end on every one of those runs. But not today. Today was perfect. And I felt so good afterwards, I came back to the house and mowed the lawn before we went out on the boat.

I hope tomorrow’s run is the same. Today I really loved running more than ever….

What are you doing this weekend?

  1. That seahorse is amazing!! I’ve never seen one before! Was it small? For some reason when I think of seahorses I think they are tiny.
Yay for a great run!! I love when that happens!
And that food looks so good! Makes me want some clam chowder!

    • You guys are really getting hit this year! It’s crazy. I don’t think I’ll complain about the humidity here ever again! I hope you get to go see your Mom soon.

  2. I’m glad I found your blog!

Good runs are so nice for the soul and just the overall training mentality. I’m glad you had one. Back in early high school (wow I feel old thinking about it) I did a project on seahorses. I agree and think they are truly awesome creatures.

    • I’m so glad you liked the seahorse and I’m glad you found my blog too. I read yours all the time. I loved your last race recap and you are wicked fast 🙂

    • The onion rings were incredible. We had so many left over that we crisped them in the toaster oven the next night and put them on top of steak, it was awesome. 🙂
