I’m getting ready for the Active Suncoast Half Marathon….

Things about my Thursday

It’s almost the weekend. I’m pretty excited about it.

I ran 7 miles this morning. 7 easy miles through my neighborhood where I normally see peacocks, emu’s and rogue puppies but it was uneventful today. My in-laws are in town and are visiting with us for 3 and half weeks. I’m super excited because when family comes to vacation, generally we vacation as well. It works out pretty nice for us.

Excited Dog

Less than half an hour after they got here I stepped off a bar stool, tripped over the dog and fell flat on my ass. Yep, I’m that girl. I know how to impress.

And that leads me to what I’m doing now, which is alternating foam rolling with sessions on the tens unit. Yeah, it was a hard fall and guess what? I’m running a half marathon on Sunday!

Suncoast half marathon

I’ll be running the Active Suncoast Half Marathon in Lakewood Ranch. My bib number is 549, not that you need to know that but I thought I would share just in case you have some good story to tell me about the number 549 and how it’s the luckiest number ever or somehting.

I’ve never run this race before and I’ve never really tooled around Lakewood Ranch so I have no idea what to expect but then again, I kind of like surprises so it should be interesting.

running is funny

I don’t think I’m really prepared for this race. My last few long runs have sucked and it’s been a few weeks since I’ve run longer than 10 miles but I’m going to give it my best and just have fun. From all the pictures I’ve seen on the internet, Lakewood Ranch is really pretty and best of all, flat! Also, the race ends on Main Street and there are some cool shops I’d like to check out…because a half marathon plus shopping is pretty close to the most perfect day, don’t you think?

If you’ve ever run in this race please tell me about it, I’d love to hear from you.

Are your running a race this weekend? Which One? Are you prepared?

  1. Good Luck on Sunday! How many of us are really in mid-season form right now? Go out an enjoy the experience. Isn’t that while we run? A new race a new course, it will be an experience. Enjoy!

  2. I laughed so loud at the 401k cartoon my co-worker asked me if I was okay! HA! Good luck with your race, I think you are going into it with the right mentality. You will likely surprise yourself! Can’t wait to read the recap and see what you bought! 🙂

  3. You sound like me as far as clumsiness goes!! Luckily you are just sore but still able to run your race on Sunday!

I think you have a very lucky number:
    5+4= 9
    See the pattern here?
Prepared or not I think this is significant 🙂

I don’t have any races now until March but I’ll be doing a long run on Sunday and will send some good vibes your way!
