The inevitable PR at the Pretty in Pink 15K, Review and Recap

In case you didn’t know it, I ran a little race on Sunday morning. I might have mentioned it a few times,.the Pretty in Pink 15K.

Pretty in Pink 15k

The race started in Del Oro Park in Clearwater and went down the Ream Wilson Trail to Bayshore and through the streets of Safety Harbor and then back to Bayshore, onto the Ream Wilson Trail through Cliff Stephens Park back to Del Oro park and then all over again. I don’t want to sound like a whiner, but I didn’t really care much for the course, partly because I run the Ream Wilson Trail all the time, but mostly because it was 2 figure 8’s and it was pretty friggin boring if you ask me.

The 15K started at 7:45 and was only delayed by a few minutes, however, there was also a 5K race too and they started it at 7:15. I’m not sure what the reasoning was behind that but I think they should have started the 15K first. By the time I finished my race, the food was picked over and I was a little disappointed in that plus it was getting a little hot out. If I could make one suggestion I would suggest starting the 15K race first next year…just sayin.

The only other complaint that I have was the start. They started the race at a narrow portion of the trail and had no corals or pace times marked so there were quite a few slower runners at the front of the line and no easy way around them until you got to Bayshore unless you went off in the grass. Mind you, that’s what I did and so did a lot of other runners but it was pretty annoying.

That was snapped just before the start.

All that aside, it was a good race and since this is the first 15K I’ve ever run, a PR was a given. I was worried because there were a few little hills and bridges but I still managed to finish with a pretty good time of 1:31:29 (official gun time), although my Garmin said 1:29:28 and 9.49 miles but whatevs, I still managed to finish 5th in my age group and in the top 20% so, I’ll take it.

After the race we headed out to the Cabin with my Sister in Law and her husband and spent the night doing things like this:

Me and McGyver on the Raptor

I’m sure you can tell that’s MacGyver but the person on the back with the pink camo bandanna and Scott Goggles, that’s me. Check out my boots, adorbs aren’t they?

This morning we got up and cooked some breakfast:

Cooking at the cabin

My Sister in Law cooked and then I washed up the pans with this archaic set up:

Washing dishes at the pump

And then we shot some clay pigeons:

Shooting at the cabin

And then we drove 3 hours back home and are now headed down to the house in Venice.

My life is anything but boring!

What did you do this weekend? Run any races? Shoot anything?
