A seven mile run, fire trucks and firemen.

Happy Thursday! The weekend is upon us and I don’t know about you, but I love the weekend.

This week, I took the day off from running on Tuesday and I ran 5 miles on the treadmill on Wednesday. This morning I picked up my friend Fiona and we drove up to Palm Harbor to run in John Chestnut Senior Park. Neither of us had ever run there before so we didn’t know what to expect but it was epic.

We arrived at 7am, stepped out of the car and saw this:

Deer in the Park

I know, grazing deer, how cool, right?

We also had the chance to run around Lake Tarpon which was beautiful this morning.

We ran about 7 miles. It was one of those runs that feels like it just began and then it’s over and you don’t want it to be. It’s a great park but it isn’t really a running trail per se. It has 3 separate running paths off the main path through the park and it’s a bit hard to navigate so we’re going to figure out our path beforehand the next time we go so that we can utilize all of the trails and see everything in the park. Or not. I may just go run there all day and get lost a bunch of times until I finally figure it all out. I’m def. adding it to the rotation of favorite running places and I can’t wait to go back.

Did I mention that I went to Cracker Barrel on Tuesday? No? Well, I did. Have you tried their new salad? It’s a chicken pineapple salad and it is awesome. I highly recommend it.

When I got home this morning I was so relaxed and I felt great. MacGyver was leaving for a job so I took little Hank out for a walk. I intended to take Boomer next but…

Fifteen minutes later I returned to a fire truck and several firemen. They had busted in my side fence and were in my back yard hosing down the fire that MacGyver forgot about. Of course, my dogs saw an opportunity with an open gate, escaped to the backyard and jumped in the pond to go swimming…only after knocking down one of the firemen and wreaking havoc on a large portion of the neighborhood.

The lesson here is that I cannot leave MacGyver alone for even 1 hour with an empty fire pit, assorted pieces of wood and matches…EVER….and it takes a fire truck and several firemen, one axe and my garden house to put out the fire in my fire pit.

I can’t even make this stuff up.

So, how is your week going? What is the best run you had this week? Any run ins with the fire dept?

It’s the weekend update.

We’re back home. Here’s a recap of my weekend.

Saturday I ran 7 miles on the Legacy Trail, (I actually ran/walked about 6 or 7 more but I had a major Garmin Fail at 7 miles so I have no idea of my actual run or time, but I’m cool with it. It was my part naked run for the week J Sunday I ran 5.5 miles on the trail. This morning I banged out 6.35 in 1 hour on the tready.

I met a really cool girl at the end of my run on Saturday, (and if you happen to read my blog, I was wrong about the r&r St. Pete, sorry), and she told me where the water fountains can be found, which I was so grateful for because I was an idiot and I forgot my fuel belt with my water bottles. I won’t be doing that again but I was glad to know there are more water stations than I previously thought.

Our weekend was busy with lots of fun things. Saturday while I was out running MacGyver built me this for our toys:

kayaks, paddleboards and canoes

Because I was running and he was outside working, the dogs took the liberty of relaxing in their favorite spots. MacGyver came in from outside, saw this and immediately snapped a shot and sent it to me.

Bad dog.

After building and running we went on some treasure hunts. I found some great new chairs and we found this adorable little sign.

Peas Come in

It’s perfect for me especially since I love my veggies. MacGyver said he knew exactly where to hang it…

Peas come in

The bathroom. Peas, get it? I’ll be moving it soon.

The afternoon rains came around 3 on Saturday and never stopped so we watched some movies and hung out. MacGyver might have built a lego set or two…unfortunately the evidence has been destroyed…unless you like me on facebook..

On Sunday, we headed up to the Super Boat Grand Prix in Sarasota. We took the boat north about 14 miles to Lido Key. It was spectacular. We took a ton of pictures:

And then I got home and guess what came in the mail…

And that was my weekend….what did you do?

A run, a kayak, and a dog in a beach bag

We’re in Venice! I love it here. I love running on the Legacy Trail and so this morning, I ran a little over 3 miles on the Nokomis portion.

I had to get back home because we went to do this:

kayaking in venice florida

That’s the canal that my house is on. If you follow it out to the end it opens up into Dona Bay.

We rode around in the kayaks for about 3 hours. It was so much fun. I loved it.

Afterwards, I went to the beach to collect some shells, sharks teeth and get a good walk in. I tried to escape unnoticed but Hank saw the beach bag…hence this picture:

Dog Beach

It’s a good thing I like the dog beach cause that’s where we went….spoiled dog!

Last night we took our boat out to the Venice Inlet. They shoot off the fireworks from the South Jetty.

Independence Day Venice Florida

Oddly enough, I got some great shots of the fireworks which even the dogs enjoyed.
