Good Morning from cold and rainy Tennessee. Yes it is still cold! Not just cold but brrrrrrrrrrr cold! And because it is so cold, I’ve been mostly running on the treadmill…6.2 miles on thursday and 5 miles on Friday morning, however we did take a little hike on a very cold Thursday afternoon to Fletcher Park and I LOVED it.
That’s me and Shakespeare in the Park. heheh Below is the old Spring House in the park.
After a little hike around the entire park and a few of the trails, Shakespeare needed a little rest and I made a quick phone call.
And it’s located right over Candie’s Creek.
It was so much fun. We had a great time and Mom and I were so glad we discovered this place. It will be a great place for her to take Shakespeare where they both can get a little exercise.
On Friday we headed off to Knoxville to get ready for a baby shower for my niece on Saturday afternoon but before the Shower, there was a race to run!
On Saturday Morning, me, my Sister, my niece, and my niece in law all got up bright and early to run a 6K in support of the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation. I mentioned in an earlier post that my sister and I had never run together and that I wanted to choose a race we could both do and also have fun. The race is in downtown Knoxville and over several hills. Because I never really have a chance to run hills and could use the practice I though it looked fun but then fate happened…
My sister started a new job after we had decided on running when and she got an email from one of her employers asking her if she might want to run in the very same race as part of a team. My sister mentioned we were already running in it and then we found out that Katrina, (her employer) actually lost her Mom to kidney disease and puts together a team for this event to raise money for the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation. We thought it was inspiring so we recruited more family members and signed up for her team!
We arrived bright and early for team pics and then shivered for a bit while we waited to start:

After the race we headed off to the shower and had a wonderful time!
After the shower my Sister and I were able to get in a quick hike in Carter’s Mill Park and then we all went for barbeque and banana pudding. (More on that later) Then we headed back to Cleveland, Tn to my Mom’s house.
And because we packed so much into day, I am exhausted and getting a bit of a cold. I am taking it easy today and eating lots of fruits and veggies….
Did you run a race this weekend? Did you run for a charity?
